I was wondering how you were fairing Law Dog! I see it has been green most of the day for you folks. Did you have a lot of snow left on the ground??

Looks like it won't get to much of anything at Minot.

I just said Colorado, Wyoming, SD and Nebraska all have road closing for most the worst is yet to come. There will be some coyote bait after this one, they expect to lose a lot of cattle and new born. That is what they are saying anyway.

I don't believe your boy will get any of the rain/freezing rain, he'll get the snow and wind. I'm right on the predicted line of rain/freezing rain/snow.

For outdoor people, there is a real disconnect in what this storm is as no one here is expressing the reality that by the time this is over thousands of baby calves and lambs will be dead across the Great Plains as it is calving and lambing season. This wet is horrid for wildlife in it soaks pheasant feathers and then when it turns to ice, it freezes them like the turkeys roosting in the trees with 50 plus mile and hour winds. I was listening last night to an old dog coyote wailing as the pups were yipping. Deep snow not crusted means the deer get pulled down. The does that survive will absorb have weaker fawns, and the calves and lambs will have their ears and tails froze off.
There simply is not any place to shelter adequately in storms like this, and winter has been horridly colder the past springs making life harder on ranchers who traditionally calve and lamb in March. Last year April turned the rural areas into mud hole. This year it is a swamp. The Russians have a name for it in the Rasputista, and while most of us get to sit inside and ride it out, I'm one of the unfortunates who gets to battle this slop. I just got stuck in the ice lake in my yard when we came home. This has been a bad year for old people, livestock and wildlife.

Had to move the trailer and splitter away from the wood landing it's next to the creek, the county guys came by 2X to clear and check on a culvert that made me a little nervous! LOL Will sleep better knowing they are on the higher ground now.

People are talking this is a hundred year flood,. Around here. And if that's true I guess it could be a two three four five hundred year flood for all anybody knows. LOL
