I recently got a bunch of lynx back from a guy that tanned them for me. Happy with the leather quality but the fur is still pretty oily. Any suggestions on removing the oil?

Likely have to be drummed with media(sawdust or cob grit) dampened with mineral spirits and a little water
I have done one or two pelts at a time in the dryer with the heat turned off.Use a doubled garbage bag, then that inside a fur bag. [Linked Image]

Leave some air in the bags when you tie them off.

And make sure wifey doesn't know you are doing it...!

Could be a scene much like the time my wife came home and found I had put a couple of raw freshly skinned wolves through a cycle in the washer.

I mean, what else could I do? They were pretty dirty.... what with having rolled in moose rumen and having a bunch of blood on them. Btw, those wolves came out looking really good. (I, on the other hand, barely survived...)

Funny because I survived a strikingly similar story. Wolves in the washer leading to fuming bride turns to “wow, that was a close one.”

Advice? Wise men don't need it. Fools won't heed it.
