Link didn't work. This is the gist of it. could be a win-win?
March 1, 2019No comments Blog Carp-Crete Makes it’s Debut According to WestKentuckyStar.com carp-crete was used for the first time on Tuesday at Hu-B’s Offshore Marine Sales in Eddyville, Kentucky. The concrete uses an admixture of Asian carp fishmeal that is said to be safer than the traditional ingredient it replaces. The idea man behind carp-crete James Nobles, an Illinois civil engineer, said he was looking for a use for waste products in engineering projects that were more environmentally friendly. Environmentalists say that fly ash, which is what the fish meal replaces, contains dangerous chemicals like lead, mercury, and arsenic that are very harmful to humans.
Experts say that so far carp -crete appears to be stronger and more weather resistant than traditional concrete. Lyon County Judge Executive, Wade White, is optimistic about the new use for the nuisance fish. He claims that grinding the fishmeal and using it as an admix to concrete creates a stronger market for commercial fisherman. They don’t have to target a specific size of carp because even smaller fish can be ground up for the fishmeal. Time will tell if this will be the answer that many around Kentucky Lake are looking for, but it is some great progress in the fight against the Asian carp invasion.

Fly ash prices ra n g e f rom $15 to $40 per ton or 0.75 to 2 cents per pound. plus no cost to turn it into meal.

I can see it all now: coon tracks all over the finished surface if they pour and leave for the day. And every time it rains, the neighbors will complain of the fish smell. Get ready for an army of critters hanging around your place every night cuz they’re looking for the free meal they smell. Could get ugly before trapping season.

What would it take to make carp fishing profitable? 59 cents a pound? No way that replaces fly ash

Danny the carp fisherman could get subsidized like solar or wind turbines. Isn't that how that is supposed to work? Get a big Government study grant to make it all happen then charge big money for R&D once fish meal is approved and fly ash outlawed?? Simple sign me up to go fishing..

Fly ash is blamed for a lot of bad concrete in my area. This sounds interesting if it ever comes to fruition.
