My wife ordered me a Mossberg 535 turkey gun for our anniversary, but the store ordered a 500. Now, they can't seem to find a 535 or a 835 anywhere (I can't either, I've searched), so I have decided to turn my late father's Remington 870 into one. I bought an "ATI T3" adjustable stock, new fiber optic rifle sights, an "Indian Creek" .665 extended turkey choke and I'm ordering a 20" barrel. The gun and new stock is black and I want to give it a camo paint job. Any suggestions? Should I order a hydro dip kit? Do a spray paint dip? Just rattle can it? It doesn't have to be perfect, but I do want it to look good. Any suggestions are appreciated, as are pictures of guns you have done.
Thanks! Tony.

I covered a Mossberg 500 with a camo kit that is heat shrink. It has an adhesive that you use a hair dryer to set it Easy to put on I'll post pics when I get home later.

The old 870 DOES "sit still and be quiet", unlike the antis want people to believe. But I want it to blend in with the turkey woods.....

DD, there's a lot of vid's on the youtube that might help ya out some. I was going to camo mine too, but didn't have the heart to cover up that blueing and wood. I'm still considering a wrap of sorts that i can take it on and off.

I went with real tree hardwoods because I have a slug barrel I use at some quota hunts. Plus most of the time leaves are not on when I turkey hunt in spring. It also comes in Mossy oak break-up and realtree Extra. Took about 30 minutes to put on. This has been on my gun for 6 years now. Flash on camera made it look a little pink but the base color is tan.

My son just got a new turkey gun and ran a couple of boxes of field loads through it to break it in and then broke it down and painted his own design camo pattern on it. He works in a body shop so painting is second nature to him. Not the first gun he has done either. I do not have a pic of the complete gun but this will give you the idea.

Thanks for the pictures! I really like them both. I really like the turkey tracks, QBD!
Jbyrd- If you don't mind me asking, how much does one of those wraps cost? It looks really good in the pictures. Have you had any issues with the seams peeling/curling?
I've thought really hard about doing the "spray paint dip", but am afraid of it not turning out. I've also thought about just spray painting it, and using foliage and other materials to give it a camo pattern, but again, I'm afraid it wouldn't turn out. That wrap seems like the best way to get great results with little risk.

No I just posted link some of the patterns are super real. I think they cost around 60 bucks now. I had enough wrap to do both barrels. All you need are an exacto knife and hair dryer. As for the seams you cant even see them. The hair dryer blends them and I think they are awesome. May be some brands cheaper. But the best part is everything is pre cut. only place you have any trimming is ejection port and safety tab. It makes it easier to take off the recoil pad/ butt plate and folde the ends around the stock. Then put the pad back on and it shows no edge.

Nice looking paint. Don’t lean it against a tree, good luck finding it... laugh

Not paint . A sticker kit that is removable made from vinyl . It adheres by using a hair dryer on it .
