I did that for years. Doing it that way you loose your sight picture when opening the bolt. It took a little range time to get used to opening the bolt with my left hand but once you get used to it it is way faster.

So far it looks like my baby girl will get my left handed guns. She is right handed but left eye dominant. Might take her a few years before she is ready to shoot the 338 RUM tho.

If you are left handed, get a left handed gun or get a pump or lever gun. No more right bolts for me. Unless it is a deal that I can not pass up then I can get it for the kids.

I have used a left handed savage 110L , purchased it when I was in high school. Have a leopold vx2 3x9 scope on it. Use it mostly for white tails, and coyotes. It shoots good , if I do my part. Have reloaded for it. Use only , nosler partition bullets , 100 grain for deer. , in my opinion they get the job done . Have reloaded 60 gr for votes. It has been keeping venison in my freezer , since 1961. old243

I shoot a Ruger American predator in 243. Older Leupold Vx2 3-9. Shoots factory ammo sub moa at 200 which is the furthest I’ve shot it. Just learning to reload for it.
I am very satisfied with the gun, keeping in mind it’s a budget shooter. The stock feels cheep because it is. The action functions nicely but it could be much more polished than it is out of the box. I have the detachable box style magazine, non rotary. I like it more than the rotary mag. I like the safety setup and the threaded barrel for a muzzle brake which makes the gun a very mild shooter. You can add some weight in the stock if you desire more heft.
Overall, I’m quite happy. Hard to beat the versatility of the 243.

My father has a savage model 11 lefty. It's a youth model 7mm 08. Amazing gun, and very accurate.

I used a Savage 243 with the wooden stock for 10 years for deer and killed one every year with it. I used the 100gr CoreLokts, a deadly combination. Now I use a Savage 111 270 for deer and stacked the deer up with it. For the money savages shoot great right out of the box. I think I’m going to get a 243 again.

Mossberg patriots are really nice! I have a 308 and 22-250 and they shoot 3 holes touching at 100 yds. For the money, they are the best.

I have an old Rem 700 243 that I won in a raffle, only thing I ever won, except for the last draft Lottery. grin
But that rifle is super accurate, nice wood, took a decent Pronghorn with it at 325 yds, dead before it hit the ground.
Maybe overkill for woodchucks, but not as much windage to worry about.
I wouldnt get a new Remington, but the old ones were fine.

I picked up a new Remington 700 in 7mm Mag. It's not a bad gun. I shot this off the rail of my truck at 400 yards. Not bad for a windy day, lousy rest and factory ammo. The target was on the tree line at the end of the field.

That would be my first choice in a bolt Boco, but I don't think they come in a .243

Funny you mention Mossberg Patriots I just looked at one today, nice light gun, it was $40 off the regular price of $340 if I would have had the money it would be home right now
