I found a reference in an early 1930’s FFG to a triumph square grip. I found a #4 size longspring triumph with square jaws. Haven’t seen One before. Is that what it is and if so when was it made?

I think the Triumph Square Grip is referring to a coil spring trap. Probably an Easy Set.

Here is a link to a # 3 Triumph Easy Set square Grip on eBay.

The coil part of the spring is tucked away inside the levers.

Thats what I was thinking but then I found this square jawed longspring and wasn’t sure anymore . I don’t know if the trap is original but I have never seen a square jawed triumph longspring before and still an not sure what it is. Did they make a square jawed longspring?

Do you have any pictures of your trap. It would help a lot.

It is possible that the trap has been pieced together by a trapper. Hard to know without seeing the trap.

I'm far from a authority on Triumph traps, however I am very interested in collecting triumph traps and memorabilia. I have never seen a reference or a square jaw triumph LS.

On that note I have seen some interesting trapper mods, some that were pieced together so well they have had me scratching my head if triumph "experimental" (although likely they are not), I would be interested in a picture as well.
