A good woman is one of the greatest blessings a man can ever hope to attain. So, if you have a good woman, remember to appreciate who you have. I think too many times one may take for granted the blessing in our lives.

1/2 mile from the work maybe?

No, both have at least a 30 mile drive to work. Told him he not only lost his shop but now will have every Tom, Dick & Carrie over every weekend to drink his beer, eat his food and burn up all the gas in his boat while he's doing all the yard work. I guess as long as he's happy..... confused

One of my old landowners always had great advice in a funny way.

One of his favorite sayings was that if he ever won the lottery he would just keep farming until it was all gone.

Another was one he would often say when his wife was standing nearby, he said that way back when he started he said he traded a couple good horses for his wife, and then he would look off into distance and mutter something like, "man, those were good horses."

Wow, the looks she would give him after he said that!

Jim

Money cannot buy you happiness, but it can buy you a trapping license and that's pretty close.

They love to gossip and complain about each other. They need it to live.

Men say horrible things to each other, then laugh, cause they don't really mean it.
Women say nice things to each other, but they don't really mean it.

Life ain't supposed to be easy.

I married a city gal. We’ve had our hills and valleys. Harvest/hunting widow and all that. She’s adjusting and so have I. We have Netflix and internet which I couldn’t care less about but she likes it. The house/nest is how she likes it. When I’m away she’ll run the cows back in and have a laugh over it. She brings grub to the fields is a good dancer and beautiful. All in all she knows she’s lucky. I mean that only half in jest. This country life is getting rarer and harder to come by. There is a romance to it found nowhere else.

Yup. My wife is just fine living out here in the swamp but she has to have all that social media stuff. She is rather anti social but still needs that connection. We do a have a rather small group of friends but she needs that line.

Me, I don't even have a cell phone. If I want to talk to you I might call, but most likely will stop over to chat.

My wife of more years than I can recall is a city girl.
When we bought our 2nd house it was on 10 acres out in the country.
There were other houses around, 3 miles to small town with only a mini-mart. larger town about 20 minutes away.
It was the "boonies" to her.

We have since then bought land and built on it on a bigger chunk of land. Only one neighbor that we can see is in the winter when the leaves are down.
She loves it out in the country. Neither one of us does social media, no cell phones tho one of her sons bought her a tablet and she has done some texting.

All my wife ever wanted in her life was to be a mother and raise children. I think thru the years she has grown to appreaciate the out of doors and natural things.
She never wants to go back to a city again.

One of our sons that manages people says that all the younger people want affirmation from others. Hard to get that when your out in the country by yourself.

I read a book many years ago about the high suicide rates back in the late 1800's and early 1900's. One of the main reasons was the high mortality rate of babies/children. Many mothers couldn't deal with loosing their children. My Mother has lost 2 of her 3 sons, she has said that having your children dying before you is one of the worst things she has had to go thru.

I'm fearful my wife won't be so young by the time I get her that farm she dreams of... Would have made it happen by now but HER acreage requirements are much greater than mine!

As someone here on T-man signature reads- "its a lazy man that can't find his wife a second job"
