I set mine around 3 on a MB750 but I’ve wondered sometimes if it was too light.

I have a 3 to 4 lbs hammer, I set the handle on middle of pan at half notch, trap don't fire. Then set a 3/4 to 1 lbs hat her on top of hammer that is on trap pan, it trips the trap, not sure if the trap would fire if a small medium beaver

Might be a little tight I finally bought a Sullivan trap tester for K-9 traps and use it on everything except DP’s, I do like my pan to hold itself up when setting just so I don’t pinch my fingers. grin

I set 750s under the ice and they are pretty light. I never figured beaver would exert much pressure on the pan while they are suspended in the water. No empty sprung traps.
