I got tired of hijacking the ibuprofen thread. Does anyone take fish oil? If yes, what dose? Post away.

Run, I would like to hear more about the black cherry juice. How much do you take and how often?

Cod liver oil, in the gel caps, is about the richest source of vitamin D there is, next to sun and leafy deep green veggies.

Im not sure about pain, but I do know that enough Vit. D does a whole lot of good in many ways for the whole body, a cascade effect to systemic healing. Im betting that would help pain also as it works on the sources of the pain.

Not any fish oil, has to be cod liver oil...in gel caps, they are easy to take and theres no after taste at all.

Natural food supplements are the way to go, over synthesized vitamins bought over the counter , that dont absorb into the body.

I don't want to hijack it either. I'll ask here what I had posted on it

Has anyone heard of or tried Minagin (Ojibwe Ointment)? I recently read about it online, says its supposed to treat Joint Pain,Arthritis,Fibromyalgia and more. After many years of sports, gym, motorcycle wrecks, car wrecks, the job, and too many steak and beer nights everything hurts. I want to try it but am leary. Afraid of scripts but take advil like skittles.

Took cod liver oil tablespoonful twice a day for about five years as child, quack doc said I was anemic and that would fix it. I'm not sure if there is a connection, but all fish taste the same to me...
I did out grow the anemia, if i ever had it.

I take fish oil gel caps along with various vitamins. Fish oil has lots of benefits because of the amount of omega 3 brain and heart health, helps joints, and muscle pain.
My combo too help my overall pain is fish oil, vitamin d 2000 IU, magnesium tabs, potassium, calcium, L-Arginine, B12 and a multi vitamin.

Lee, cousin Mike said two cups of black cherry juice a day is helping him, buy at supermarket or Amazon he said. My online search for "black cherry juice anti inflammatory" turns up lots and lots of good reports and recommendations for gout and inflammation and arthritis treatment.
Almost any fruit will help some. I haven't gone to the store since he told me this.

A buddy of mine has bad knees. Takes fish oil (sorry don't know the amount) and said it made huge improvements in his ability to do things now.

Three salmon cell caps(1000mg). I bite em and spit out the gelatin shells then 4oz orange juice not from concentrate. First thing in the morning 1/4 hour before anything else. Difference whether I can make a fist or not.
Sharron I'm going to try the cod liver oil next time I buy. Remember it from my mother helping her bursitis.
The orange juice thing was from a medical journal she read to take the cod liver oil with.

Spring Buds off a Cotton wood tree just before they start to open up, ground up and mixed into warm coconut oil. Let sit overnight then strain. This is wonderful stuff for aches and pains. I use about a 2 to 1 ratio. 2 parts oil to 1 part buds. Can't be allergic to aspirin though. The buds will be about the size of a Tabasco pepper and slightly oily when ready to pick.

Make a tea out of the birch polypore mushroom, grows on dying birch trees, it's a great muscle relaxant, and it's use is ancient . I could use some right now.

I take glucosamine daily for my joints and 1040 mg of fish oil for general health. If i forget to take them for a day or two i will feel it badly in my knees! For quick relief of joint pain, muscle pain, and/or headaches i use peppermint essential oil applied topically. Best for muscle pain is magnesium oil or applied topically.

A friend has gone on bone in a knee and uses 2 tbls of honey and 1 level tsp of cinnamon in a cup of hot water. Hasn't needed a cortisone shot in over a year. I've been doing it and my dad who has a bad knee and he couldn't believe it!

Sounds very similar to the Balm of Gilead, which if my memory is correct, was Poplar bud oil.

I have been taking Glucosomine 1500 miligrams for 6-7 years now. Has worked well for me. It worked for our yellow lab so I thought I would give it a try too. Might not be natural but I will use what works within reason.
Ice also kills pain. I agree also with activity and keeping weight down as being very important. Especially as one ages and muscles lose their strength, putting more pressure on joints and ligaments.

I have made a tincture of Hops, the very same used in beer, and it works extremely well for pain. I get back spasms and usually take naproxen if it gets to be un-bearable. But, it seems to me that the hops tincture works just as well or better than the naproxen. The downside is if you take too much it messes with your gut too much due to the anti-microbial properties of hops (one of the main reasons it was added to ales). It works well for pain due to the anti-inflammatory properties of the Lupulin. It also has a relaxant effect similar to Valerian Root so that is a bonus with the spasms. The variety that I used was Chinook, the next batch will be Sorachi-Ace. Will be interesting to compare the two. You can use any edible spirit to make a tincture, cheap vodka seems to work great being a neutral spirit.

If you really want to reduce pain in your body the most natural way...Eat right.. no more junk food...LOSE THE EXTRA WEIGHT AND EXERCISE!!! Most people won't do this because it's hard.

Everyone wants to find magic in a pill. I don't mean to sound harsh but it's true.

We chew the tips of willow on the river if we get a headache. It will knock out a headache in about 20 to 30 minutes. Aspirin or ibuprofen works better, but if you don't have those willow bark works.

Most Walmarts sell alfalfa tablets. Pretty inexpensive for a bottle. 6 tablets in the morning, 6 in the evening. Works for some people.

Glf - not everyone that has pain is overweight, doesnt exercise, and eats junk food. I am 38 years old, 6’2” and weigh 180 lbs which is far from overweight. I am very active at work as well as at home, bike riding, jogging, and sports. Sometimes people need that magic pill for reasons out of their control. And thats the truth!

If you have arthritis or scar tissue in your joints, Bromelain, an enzyme found in pineapple. eat or drink for a while and the stiffness and swelling will ease or go away. Works for me.
