Still have a few feet of ice, but its going quick with the warm weather moving in. Cant wait to get back in the boat and get after some crappies and marble eyes

I usually start fishing in late March and early April for channel cat and also white bass. Havent been out yet due to rain and cool weather but hope to make it out in the next couple weeks. Glad to see some of y’all catching some already!

I get jealous of the early spring down south, but I wouldn't want the heat and humidity of the summers. I used to get quite a few channel cats in April when I lived closer to a river. Used to use canned sweet corn in the early spring.

Around here canned sweet corn will get you a few dozen carp.

Every early cat I caught had a belly full of field corn. So figured match the hatch. Caught carp too.

No lines out but caught 12 channel cats yesterday in a little ditch coming off the Missouri river that was backed up with flood water.I was using chicken liver.

Wolf line, beaver line, otter line but that's about the only lines. I'll be crappie and perch and smallie fishing here soon if this weather holds.

Yep...baited the wife's hook and took fish off yesterday. Fished 30 min and about used up about 35 crickets. We kept these but she lost twice this many big bluegill....

Still got ice on lakes, river is about as flooded as I ever saw in 30 years here

I'm waiting for the river to drop to a safe wade able depth.
another week or so should do it.
