A friend just sent me a picture of a set of tracks he found on his driveway and wanted my opinion. I gave it to him and it is not what he thought it was. I am not saying here what our opinions are yet until I get some qualified answers from people who are familiar with tracks in the winter in Northern states . Fire away track experts! Tracks were made before yesterday morning. He did not trust my opinion so I offered to put it on here to get several more.

I told him it was a coon immediately and he doubted me. He usually does not believe me anyway since he thinks I'm messin' with him.

I wonder if tap dancers walk into a room, look at the floor, and think, I'd tap that. I wonder about things.....

I am ruling out skunk here simply because the tracks and stride appear much larger than our area skunks are capable of.

By the way, he still does not think it is a coon but won't say what he thinks it is. If any more trappers would contribute their opinions it might help sway him......maybe. He wants to rule out coon because he says they look nothing like the tracks he has seen in the mud and in drawings of coon tracks.

Guess he believes me now since his golden retriever got it's nose torn up by fighting the coon in the creek behind his place. It was quite a fiasco as he explained it to me. He had all he could do to keep his other two dogs out of the water. I told him his dog is lucky the coon did not lock on to it's head and hold it under water.

He won't believe that either until it happens.

I watched a big boar coon hold a German shorthair's head under water. He would have drowned it without a doubt if me and my buddies hadn't been carp spearing that day.
That's all I have to say about this episode.
Nuff said.
End of story
