I just read that because of a large coronal ejection from the sun, the Aurora Borealis will reach as far south as Iowa. I have never had the pleasure of seeing them myself so I'm hoping the clouds clear for tomorrow nights light show. As normal I can't post a link.

When I've seen the Aurora down in Chicago, it was just reds. Was absolutely nothing compared to the Aurora up in Canada! More colors and more action (waves) the farther north ya go.

I've seen them here several years back. Any idea as to what time it might happen?

I was just on the NOAA site and they now say it is unlikely PA will see the light show do to the near full moon and the solar storm only rating a 2 on a 1 to 5 scale. But I will still be looking.
Maybe Jonathan will get some good pictures and share them.

Too bad. The first time I seen them here, I couldn't figure out what the heck was going on. Sure is neat.

I hope y’all get to see them. I find it kind of amusing the fascination with the lights by those who havent or rarely see them. It would be like me seeing an armadillo I guess. Sure they are kinda cool, but when something is common, it loses its appeal I guess. Thank you folks for pointing out something we have so often, and making it seem special. Fascinating.

Supposed to be cloudy here but clear farther north. If I knew it was going to happen I would drive to the clear skies. My kids have never seen them. Been tryng to catch some for a couple years but we keep missing them.

Nevah get tired of admiring them. I am transfixed every time...I have a couple of links to see them live , one is from NASA, the other, in Alaska.

Norway and Iceland also show wonderful shots . I even wish I could catch up on the most beautiful ones ever seen, from long ago, if I could !

Over my lifetime of being an outdoor type and being kinda a night owl I have seen the northern lites many many times here in SE Nebraska. Usually when you aren't expecting them they surprise you. One thing is for sure you never forget them. And always hoping to see them again!!! Simply spectacular!!

Seen them once a long time ago while visiting relatives in Blair NE. Still remember them very well. Would really like my kids to experience them one of these days.

LOL, that don't work. You're thinking they're like a bunch of snipe hunters with burlap bangs, eh?

All we had was some pink sky tonight, but any night looking up at all those stars is still a good night.
Someday I hope to go north and see the real thing
And White I don't think they moved because you whistled, I think it was more like your lack of oxygen and you were getting dizzy. Lol

In 37 years of trailer trucking across I-80 and I-90 I've never seen them. Susan and I are talking about figuring out the best time/best place to see them and getting a flight there. Seems important to see them before we die.
