There was a bit of news coverage today about the 2018 Parkland shootings in Florida. Of course the weapon is still being blamed. This thread isn't about that, it is about the lady the school was named after....Marjory Stoneman-Douglas. Without using a search engine, does anyone on here know who this lady actually was, and why she is memorable?

Was she a black woman who refused to ride in the back of a bus? Don't seem right but all my brain will come up with right now.....LOL

That lady's name was Rosa Parks.

Not married to Frederick either.

I know she was big on saving the Everglades, and a couple other issues.

I didn't know until the highschool incident.
Now every time I hear the highschool name I remember her.

The hyphenated last name tells me she was probably an anti-trapper.

She was against draining the swamp.... There were some anomalies with that shooting also..

Rosa Parks was the first black that got recognized for the bus thing. There were others before her.

Occacio Cortez resembles Rosa Parks. I think it may be why they hired her to run.
