I don't know if you remember me or not. I was the ugly fella that wanted that Sterling 800 almost as badly as you at the FTA auction last summer. OK, truth is I probably wanted it just as badly as you, my wife just didn't agree. As I remember you told me I owed you some money for making you over pay.
Well, the wife didn't interfere this time. Seems you now owe me some money for making me overpay.
I am extremely happy to own this Sterling prototype, it will be in my family for a long time to come. It has a place with the other traps we have that our friend Glen Sterling made.

Are you coming to the FTA convention in Harrisonburg,VA in June?

Run, I won't be able to make the FTA this year do to scheduling. The long drive doesn't allow us enough time to make other commitments. I hate it as this is the first one in quite a few years we will have missed.

Rammer, next time I make it up that way I will indeed remember how close you are. If it the cards fall as such will try to see you as well. I really enjoyed visiting with you last summer.

Thank you, it was made by one heck of a trapper and trap maker. I much prefer the later 600s and will use them the rest of my days, but really enjoy having this trap to see the progression of how the design was developed. It is a wonderful piece of history that will be cherished for many years to come.

I got the trap up on my wall of Sterling, but think I need to find it it's own spot so it stands out.

I have some of all sizes, some that were made in 1973, some with odd features like the separate springs wrapped together instead of a single spring as the lever, and even a couple of traps Glen manufactured for other companies. I also have some Sterling traps that were personal traps of friends like the Gold plated pan traps of Glen's and a couple of Andy Weiser's traps, although part of those are on loan from my daughter to hang on the wall of Sterling.
I thought I would share this pic of our collection so others could get some enjoyment out of it as we do.

I have 4 of that smaller sized Sterling, and haven't tried them out yet.

Les, I only have one of them, it is an older one for the wall. Personally I like the 600s, nothing wrong with the 500s I just like the 600s better. I gave Kylee the rest of the 5s I had to go with the ones she had. And you are correct, I don't have enough traps. Off top of my head I only have 12dz 600s and Kylee is just short of 3dz counting the few 500s she has. I have some jakes and other traps, but we don't count them. I could use a few more coon and beaver traps to, got some empty milk crates that need held down. LOL
