It is funny, when I was 12 years old IF I was late for school the teacher would ask if a caught anything that morning. Had a short line behind the house.

I was in that class with my 12 year old son. After taking NJ's hunter's ed class with him a couple of years ago, I wasn't expecting much but the trapping class was excellent. I don't know how many volunteers there were but it was nearly 1 instructor for every 2 students. Many had been trapping for 40 or 50 years. A lot of knowledge and everyone was willing to share. We didn't get much down time but when you did, all the experts will willing to answer questions or share some of their secrets. We're both brand new to trapping and this was the best introduction we could have hoped for. The 12 year old is pretty excited.
Thanks to everyone who wasted a perfectly good weekend helping out some new guys.

Glad to hear about the great turnout! Maybe we are making headway fighting the antis! I hope we get good turnout for ours! I’m considering a two day course, I want to add more set construction, fur handling and using every part... i.e... glands, meat and skulls!
I’m happy you have good participation, maybe they will come over and be non resident trappers here...

I may come over so I can foot trap. LOL I am only 30 mins across the bridge. But I don't think I want to trap there at the bridge LOL Come to think of it Del has ground here in South jersey !!!!!! I go to church in Del. Rob if you want some outlines to look at I have mine for the courses with stations and such. I have a permit which allows us to let the students set out a Cable restraint over night to try to catch something so the course has a one night trap line feel.

Ron! You are always welcome here. I will loan you foothold traps so you can run a trap line here. Lots of rats, mink and otter at the bridge! Maybe a coon or twenty! The students will learn a lot from your double loaded snares!
Heck, I’ll take any help I can get. Let me know.
