I know some members harvest themselves, some buy chunks. I see on line that there is also many powdered (ground) offers available that make it somewhat easier to use. Anyone on here using chaga please give opinion on either form that you use/like and why? Thanks

I bought some after reading about it on here the other day. I got the powder. Everyone said they made tea and that it was like having coffee grounds in your coffee. Well alot of it floats and sticks to the side of the cup so that isn't exactly like coffee and is kinda weird. Its gritty to get in your mouth. So I bought one of those stainless tea filter things. Its basically a metal tea bag that the top screws on and off of. I was surprised how much of the powder made it out of those really fine holes and I was basically in the same boat as before. I settled on just putting a pinch on my food. Like the other day I was eating a burrito and sprinkled on there like pepper. Yesterday I sprinkled it on my salad. That seems to work better for me b/c then you can't really tell its there.

As far as what it does and if its helping? Who knows, I just started, but I figure its not hurting anything.

I use a coffee filter . Two heaping teaspoons of Chaga wrap it up and tie it shut with thread. Simmer for an hour or two. -DONT BOIL IT-. You will still get the super fine powder seeping through but its minimal. When Im done I store the Chaga wad in the fridge and get three uses from it. So on the forth day I make a new batch. I grind my Chaga with a very coarse rasp and sometimes with a cheese grater . I have a couple Chaga videos on Youtube if you care to watch. One is on Grinding Chaga and one on finding Chaga. I get mine in a BIG chunk.Band saw it into about 3/4" x3/4" peices.
Then when I need some tea.I put 3-4 chunks in a gallon pot and boil.Then save the chunks ,they will make about 4-5 more gallons.

Supposedly it takes 3-4 hours to Not boil, but simmer small chunks ....then pour it through a colandar lined with a couple coffee filters. Just going by a general consensus on YouTube videos. I went out for a couple hours and found a half pound the other day.

What are the noticeable effects of this tea ?

This is how I do it too!

I use an old hand crank meat grinder to grind up the chunks cut up on a band saw or I use an old meat cleaver to chop it up into pieces small enough to run through the meat grinder. This you can then separate by screening into fines and small pieces. I use a plastic basket like you drain pasta in that i got at walmart. The fines I run thur the coffee maker like you would coffee. The other I use a metal tea caddy and steep until I get it to a dark color that I like the taste of. then you also have the band sawed pieces you can steep like Newt or 330. I sell it at flea markets during the summer get $5.00 for 2 oz.

so there is a downside to it.

So.... it's not the same as rhinocerous horn, or vitamin E.

It has about the same scientific backing.

That's what I'm looking for right there.

Big difference Les is that rhino horn is tough to find around here!

I break in small chunks and grind it in the bullet grinder . I buy drawstring tea filters and put the powder in those .

I had bladder cancer surgery last year in march bladder cancer is a hard cancer to stop from coming back [doctor said] but if we keep finding it early we can keep take it out [doctor said ] my mom bought me chaga in a bottle an I put 4 drops from a eye dropper in my coffee for a year , don't no if it help or I'm just lucky but made it a year an no cancer back yet I have run out of it now an don't know if I will buy any more

Actually chaga is quite well studied from what I have found. The chemicals and compounds in it are known antioxidants and it has been found to retard and stop the growth of cancer cells in lab tests and in animal studies.

Disclaimer, more human studies are needed,.

I know another older gentleman who had a lung removed from cancer, and went hard on the chaga. Cancer free now for several years, which from what I hear from him surprised the doctors.

One thing, try and find anything negative about it, or studies that say it does nothing. So far I haven't found d much against it, and a lot of evidence for it's use.
