Nothing like the sight and smell of Maple Sap being boiled down into Maple Syrup! A lot of work, but worth every bit of it !

This is my first year of making maple syrup and I have to agree with you 100%! Even though I'm on a much smaller scale, the rewards are just as big!


Common sense is a not a vegetable that does well in everyone's garden.

Yup. First crop of the Spring. We made 70 gallons last year but cut back on taps due to worm damage last summer. See 2-3 more boils this yr.

Not for me, this year.

I don't need any more snaggy, slimey, sickenening sweet syrup.

This year I've got a couple gallons of cottonwood buds for balm of Gilead simmering.

BTW, I no longer boil the maple sap all the way down to syrup. I only boil it down far enough to ferment into wine/beer.


Man who mistake shillelagh for fairy wand; see pixie dust, also.

I did my first boil on Tuesday night. will boil again on sunday.
I have some nice dry wood this year and fire is hot.
