The tail fur is used on various streamer patterns, especially Bob Clouser's Foxy Minnow.

Fox body fur is also used. Some fly shops sell small squares.

The underfur can make a nice dubbing.

Urine stained belly fur from a vixen. It's a pinkish hue.

I'm not a true fly tier not sure I have the patience for it. But I just tied up a bunch or Buck tail streamers for walleye fishing. I make up quit a few jigs with hair for crappie fishing..Pretty sure I got to many thumbs for them fancy little bug the trout guys tie..But I can appreciate their skill..
