He’s a rescue mutt and is due in May to be neutered . Also have Miley my 11 year old beagle. Well news to us all these years but my beagles poop must taste like soft serve ice cream since the pup will gobble it down like it’s “Wednesday is Sunday at carvel” ! I follow the beagle around in the yard to scoop immediately but night time outings make it tough to spot. Any help with a remedy will be greatly appreciated ,that doesn’t require a .22.

They make a additive to the poop that makes it less "tasty" if that's even possible! Sounds like the dog comes from a big litter or had little food offered to it maybe.

It's a puppy thing, most will grow out of it. Just no puppy kisses until it does!

Sometimes in grown dogs eating poop can be a sign of some sort of mineral deficiency. Might look into that. Could be something as simple as a vitamin supplement.

My Jag never did grow out of that. She was even doing it at 7 years old. I guess she just liked a hot meal. LOL

Most dog chows are loaded with flavor enhancers that pass thru and makes the Poop taste good. They sell stuff at pet stores just for that, but, Monosodium Glutamate (sp) sprinkled on the chow before feeding, makes the poop taste bitter and unappealing.

I had a rescue dog. The trouble with them is that you don't know their history and how or if they were abused. My dog was my best friend, but he carried bad traits due to his previous life. It's nice to rescue a dog, but it's not all that it's cracked up to be
