Wait until the leftovers are on sale after everyone is done buying them you get a heck of deal. You got to watch though the day they go on sale they go quick.

Just watch where they come from. Couple of years ago was there when the State plant inspector was wagging their fingers and a lot were NOT GOING TO CUSTOMERS anymore

I have had decent luck with fruit trees from TSC, Walmart and Rural King, except that the trees are frequently mislabeled. End of season and right after they get a new shipment of trees in and they want to clear the old trees is the best time to buy. I have bought 6' and 7' fruit trees for $4.00 from Walmart and $1.77 from Rural King. The local TSC's charge about $9.00 per tree and you have to be more careful picking them out, because they take poor care of them.

Before you pay full price for one at lowes go to one of the commercial suppliers and buy your trees. I'm talking like Adams County Nursery, Cummins Nursery, Stark Brothers there are others but those are the ones I know in this area. You have to order in June for next year delivery but it's worth the wait and you can get the specific tree you want on the root stalk that works for you. The root stalk is going to dictate the the overall productivity of the tree, and ultimately how quikley that tree produces for you. I will warn you, when you order from these places your getting a one year old bareroot tree, that will be pruned down to a stick. You will wonder what you payed for but they will take off like a rocket if taken care of correctly. The other thing for you to do no matter where you buy your tree from is prune them correctly and trane them to grow for fruit production and not just growing leaves for shade. You need a pollinator with apples so make sure if you are planting only two varieties that they are suitable for cross pollination not all apples mingle well together when it comes to producing fruit.
