You have to have permission to hunt private property. Does not have to be posted. But are trespass laws are a joke.

Well that sucks. The law man here takes private property and trespassing very seriously here. I like to think the sportsmen and women do as well. Respect for landowners goes a long way.

I couldn’t agree more Deleware Rob. But, for whatever reason, not the least of which is the lack of any teeth in trespassing regulations, far too many Pennsylvania hunters don’t respect landowners and their property. A common theme seems to be, “If it’s not posted it’s open to hunting” without even so much as asking the landowner for permisssion.

Eh...wot?

I might be a little self-serving on this topic, but as a trapper,I like no hunting on Sunday, because I could run my traps in peace. It is not such a problem now as it used to be with no pheasants. But back in the day,I lost a whole lot of fur, and traps to hunters.

Maine's firearms deer season opens the last Saturday In October and runs through the last week of November. No Sunday hunting.

I don't have trespass issue anymore either.

Deer hunting used to be a very tradition oriented event in the northern counties of PA .Like other have said people would start to arrive at the camps after the Thanksgiving holiday and many would remain there for 7 to 10 days .Many of the camps would put on drives for deer and if any where taken the meat was split between all the hunters of the camp .As the hunters aged and than the all out effort to lower the total der herd especially in the northern tier counties many stopped hunting . At the same time deer became more numerous in the southern half of the state and many more hunters took up archery hunting . Today many have stopped hunting at their camp or already killed a buck with a bow by the start of the rifle season The camps sit empty many have quit hunting and those that do go to camp for the opening day and leave at the end of the day . Perhaps as many as 40 % less people are in the woods on the opening Mon .of the rifle season The traditions are dead or fading fast .All the while the need to control the number of deer remains the same .I enjoy the traditions as much as actually getting a deer .But if we can not adjust to the changes we are left out .I also agree with Phil about the deer season and the problems with people stealing traps and shooting foxes in my traps . The 2 weeks of deer rifle season where a losing battle for me I just stopped trying to trap those weeks .Adding more days is not really going to change much of what has been happening . The aging of those still hunting and the lack of new hunters getting started will be an ongoing issue .For those that did not read all of the news release I think they also added two more weeks of archery hunting to the after Christmas archery season . There was a time that the seasons and regulations did not change much from year to year .Today you better have a copy of the rules handy before you set out to do anything

And if they weren’t, this move by the PGC has killed them. It is the final nail in the coffin of the traditional Pennsylvania Buck Camp.

Had a PGC worker stop in the office the other day to get parts. He agreed this won’t generate more hunters, and the Sunday thing is another joke, what ground isn’t posted soon will be. If you don’t have time to spend with your kids now, extra days won’t help. Just my .02.

pa game comm is a joke anymore, always a new season or new stamp or new this or that....they ruined so many traditions and so many seasons with there changes its not funny....pretty bad when you get out of your vehicle to go hunting and the first thing you think to yourself is, "what am I doing wrong"... When I go hunting anymore I do my best to go by the rules and regs but I figure if they get me for some oversite on my part then so be it....im over it, fine me, take my license or do whatever you got to do, just don't forget who pays the bills

Lugnut I agree this will kill the going to camp tradition ever more .I have been told that I am old and set in my ways .In many ways that is true and I am proud of it .But I have some possible young hunters coming in my family . My hope is I can help them to start some new traditions .For myself I don't have to like the changes but for my nephews and nieces the change is they are old enough to hunt and are often in need of some one to take them . I hope the next generation of hunters can get as much enjoyment from spending time in the woods as I have . But it is getting harder every day to think that will happen

Been doing it that way for half a century.

I guess I’ll head up to camp Friday evening after work now and get everything done in a couple hours what I used to be able to take a day and a half to do.

That's also my take on it. Go up to Cherry Grove and get settled in, then over the weekend make the rounds visiting everybody else at camp. Just seems like the end of a old tradition.

Want an increase? Open deer bear and turkey together.
Surely the majestic trophies have been studied inside and out by now, or maybe we need some more studie$.
Perhaps a slot limit on carp and groundhogs lol.

As a Camp owner in a state forest in PA on leased ground, I fully support the move to open the regular deer season on Saturday. This is about giving our youth hunters more opportunity, nothing less and nothing more.

The wife and I will be delighted to get another day afield together hunting for deer, and in a couple years, the grandkids will begin hunting with us. Our family crew of hunters will all likely take advantage of the extra day hunting, and we will enjoy all the time we can make together at Camp as it is never enough in this very busy world.

Thank you PAGC for making a perhaps unpopular decision as voiced by a loud vocal minority, this is the right decision for the future of the sport and will serve hunting well over time.

The good lord has blessed me with the ability to trap. I trap to honor him and those who lived the explorer/trader/trapper life that I cannot.

Camp life started to die with the antler and doe shooting regs. This is a closing of the barn door after the cows are out.

I also see the are rescinding the regs requiring the guy sitting up in a tree bow hunting from displaying Orange while the guy hunting squirrels that is shooting up into the trees to still wear it. crazy
