Who had sinus surgery and how bad did you feel afterwards? How long was the recovery? Did the surgery work?
I been on antibiotics, steroids and such for 80 days so far this year. Seen 2 Dr's and both recommended the surgery. Both said I got chronic sinusitis and a jacked up nose. Been eating a handful of pills everyday but not much relief.

Don't know what you are going to have done for sure. I had polyps removed from both sides of my nose that were in my sinuses. I shouldn't tell you this, but I will. The surgery wasn't bad and the recovery was good. I was back to work 2 days after the surgery. The only bad part was when they pulled the packing out of my nose. It felt like they were pulling my brains out through my nose. Fortunately the surgery was a success and I haven't had any reoccurrences of the polyps.
GOOD LUCK!!!!!

No polyps here, they're going to gut my sinus cavity and create a large void so they drain. Then run some kind of laser around to shrink the damaged lining and grind out my nose.

No advice here, just an interesting fact. There is a book titled Human Errors that talks about our sinus cavity in the first chapter. Our sinuses have to drain uphill, which is a design flaw. It may be a development that goes back to before we walked upright. The book is fascinating. Covers many unfortunate mutations in human development.

I had reconstructive surgery, for a very badly broken nose, that collapsed and completely closed my left side sinus cavity. The pain was not bad before or after the surgery. After the surgery, I threw up a large amount of partially digested blood, that looked like coffee grounds and was extremely nauseous, probably from the anesthetic. My mouth and throat felt incredibly dry. I could not see anything but prisms of color because my eyes were packed with petroleum jelly to protect them. The strangest part of the experience was removing the cloth packing, 3 days later. I had a little piece hanging out of my nose. I started pulling it out and it just kept coming out and piling up in the sink. After 30 seconds of pulling, it started to seem like it might never stop coming out. When I next saw my doctor, he told me he used 168 feet of packing in my sinus cavities. He told me that he had used over twice as much packing in other patients. Your sinus cavities are much bigger than most people realize.
I hope your surgery goes well.

best thing I ever did for my sinus should have done it early x2 The next week its hard to breath, mouth open, sleep setting up. Removing the packing hurts, take the pain pills before you go to the visit to remove.

LOL, well, I've had the surgery twice, about 20 years apart. Yes, it helped me tremendously.
The worst part for me is 2 fold: 1 has been mentioned prior: Having the packing removed, OH MY!!! For ME, it was instant nausea....it truly felt as though the were pulling my brains out...…..and I swear there was 400 yards of packing.....it sure felt that way. Seriously though, I can't say I experienced any pain. Only the nausea from removing the packing.
The second part that is a bit alarming, to me anyway, was the first time you SNEEZE once the packing is out...…...OH MY....just do yourself a favor and head to the sink, you'll need to, I assure you!!
The second time I had the surgery, the surgeon got started a little early.....I DIDN'T FEEL anything, but clearly remember 2 things: the pulling, tugging on my head and the CRUNCHING of whatever being cut out....I sounded as though you were crunching a handful of potato chips, crunch, crunch, crunch. I could hear some talking and the pulling, tugging on my head, but the sound it what really stuck with me; that only lasted a few seconds, but a memorable few seconds!!! Down time, I think I laid low for a couple days and that was it. Again, no pain just the packing removal and the sound affects from the 2nd surgery are the "fondest" memories from my experiences. Good luck.

Total (anterior and posterior) including sphenoidotomy, with removal of tissue from sphenoid sinus (31259)
Nasal/Sinus Endoscopy/Maxillary Comp (31267)
Septoplasty (30520)
Thats what the Dr recommended to be done , I guess the scope they use has a sensor and it uses the CT scan to guide them in real time for the exact location in your cavities.

I had constant sinus infections and would some times get pressure when I dove almost push my right eye out..Doc said my nose was so deviated sinuses could drain right. So he recommended surgery. I gave him the ok to root out my sinuses if need be.. Ended up all he did was break my nose grind it out and straighten it. Said sinuses didn't need rotor rooting. I had packing in my nose around what I think was plain old soda straws about size of pen barrel. Was pretty painful for the week that mess was packed in my head. Doc said I'm going to pull it out on 3 then pulled it on the 2 count. I dang near passed out from the pain, then it was all gone.. Weird experience. I can say that I have not had a sinus infection since the surgery and hardly ever even get a cold any more. Not sure when that even was anymore probably 30 years ago now. I'd do it again and only regret not doing it sooner. I got a pic around here some where looks like I got hit face with a ball bat.Maybe I'll see can I find it scan it in?

Hey fisherman, which sinus cavities did they work on for you?
I got my surgery date set for the middle of next month. Still got to do all of the ekg, chest xray. And get a cat scan model made of my head.
