Just wondering how some of you guys got into doing ADC work? If I was to start my own business doing so, what all would it entail and what kind of issues can I expect to deal with? I'm tired of working for a big corporation and I think that I would most likely enjoy doing this kind of self employment. Maybe I'm too optimistic about it, but I'd at least like to look into it some. Thanks for any input you can give me.

I've looked into it and was considering starting a business in Adc until my health started to decline. I was getting a lot of calls from family and friends and friends of friends etc... to remove skunks, coons, squirrels etc...
Here there's a lot of red tape to iron out just to open up for protected species. Required paperwork licensing from game and fish then there's all the initial costs.

Good place to start is t look on your game and fish department website for info regarding adc work. Also consider each county might have different regs on what you can and cannot do, but don't let that stop you
Good luck

Start with the state laws in your state. Every state is different. Then, is there enough business in your area? You need on an average 300,000 population with money in a 15 mile area to have enough to make a full time business out of it. Do you have enough knowledge to do the jobs. Start up for a full time business, traps, insurance, vehicle is about 1/2 of what you need. The need of hand tools never stops. $20,000.00 would be a good start. Good luck. Friends and family want it done for free. Also, the business end can be a problem.

Throw away the whole fur trapping mentality and approach it as business. Lots of good info on the adc side, biggest thing to remember is that you need to do things that work for you and not just because other folks do x y and z.

Trapping year round in an attempt and solving home/property owners problems, I love it.

Don't quit your day job. Depending on where your located in Missouri there might not be as much ADC work around as you think. I do some for skunk and beaver, but where I'm located most people just shoot their problem animals. IF your near a large city and can do some you'd probably should carry some kind of insurance. The state regs are pretty straight forward on what can be done, but if your in a town then you have to check out what they allow. One thing I run into is I'll get a call about something and after i explain what my rates are they think it's to much and think it can be done cheaper. Doesn't bother me either if they think that they can find someone else.
