Why do they do what they do?
Just went out to my truck to get something. Closed the doors and the interior lights stay on for a bit. Why?
Bought a 2 pack of hinges today and they came in a plastic wrap I needed a knife to open.. lots of things come wrapped in these stupid things now days.
A new Stanley tape measure!! Try and get one of them out of the wrapper.

Got anice pair of Irish setter boots and most every one of the eyehooks have pulled through from the backside

Don't blame the engineers ... blame the majority of the customers and the pencil folks. Companies want to make money. They cant do that with stuff people don't want. So the advertising folks create a need for some random stuff till people want it. only then ends it up on the desk of the engineer and he designees whatever nonsense people now want. Blister packs are inherently harder to steal and you can hang them of a pin. Make displaying them easier.

Half of the OP's gripes are not engineers, though justifiable about griping about. I however do agree, engineers suck. I work with them often. Most can't tie their own shoes and have no clue of life in the real world. If they can't figure it out on a sheet of paper, it doesn't exist. Now that being said, I do know some good ones. The one common denominator among all of them is, that the good ones, at one time or another, have always twisted wrenches.

If an engineer had to build the asphalt parking they design, all parking lots would be perfect squares. Instead, they design something artsy looking that takes forever to pave and includes loads worth of handwork.

The lights staying on bugs me.
The packaging I think stems from thieves used to use a box cutter to make a quick heist. Try opening a kids toy. You need a knife and at least 1 screwdriver just to get the toy out of the package.

Doesn't your truck have options for the interior lights? My Tundra does for the interior and bed lights; always on, on when door opens or never on.

The Stanley tape packaging is insane! You have to just about destroy the belt/pocket hook to get the darn thing out of there. Makes me wonder if anybody responsible for that design ever tried to remove one from the packaging.

Irish Setters have been made in China for years now. And the quality went away as soon as they were no longer made in America. My last pair of Irish Setter Elk Trackers leaked like a sieve even though they were supposed to be waterproof. It's a shame, they used to make a great, top quality boot you could depend on.

On my wife's Jeep when you shut if off, the radio stays on until you open the door. Drives me nuts and can't figure out how to change that..
Maybe with the blister packed tape measure???? maybe they think if you can't open the package. you shouldn't be measuring or building things???
I had to take my wife to the ER for stitches once. Stabbed her self right in the wrist with a steak knife opening a blister pack,,,,of steak knives...Blood shooting out like a drinking fountain pretty impressive actually..
Doc at the ER said she sees a lot of people cut or stuck some how fighting open blister packs.

Engineers for cars and trucks should have to WORK on them after they design them. Then MAYBE they would design them to be more mechanic friendly!

Try putting oil back in a Bobcats750 or a Caseih 7120. Without a special funnel, almost impossible.

Whoever put speed lacing hooks on boots has never spent any time in the bush. They catch twigs, vines, and other crap if you go in heavy cover.
