Ya can't go wrong with a Mossberg imo, this is a great youth gun.

Mossberg 500 youth super bantam

I wonder if tap dancers walk into a room, look at the floor, and think, I'd tap that. I wonder about things.....

Just don't get something too light. Recoil will get'em and cause a flinch that it'll take a long time to correct.
I don't like the real little 1s at all.

I've heard good stuff about Tristar. The gas operated auto would help soften recoil. A lot depends on what the budget looks like.

A friend of mine has passed the Mossberg 500 youth super bantom down through 3 of his daughters all of which had no problem handling it. They were all pretty petite. Iíve been thinking of getting one because I love the way it handles.

Mossbergs never fit me well so I never paid much attention to them, but a friend got one for his 10 year old and its a heck of a nice feeling little gun. Doesnít kick too bad either. Thinking of getting one for my boys.

measure his/her length of pull.

I am a mossberg fan they make some shotguns that are just a great value

I found a 500c 20ga for my sonw when he was 10 I liked it so much I bought myself one just like it. I have loaned it to several kids just starting out in trap they make a very good gun for kids.

you may however need a stock spacer or to cut

it looks a little funny to see a Morgan Pad on a 200 dollar gun but it if it makes it fit just right then money well spent.

was talking to a guy who was very small as a kid he said his dad took the butt stock off his gun put it in the vice and ran a drill bit up it in 2 places , then took it over to the saw and cut it to fit him and put the but pad back on , as he grew the pieces of stock went back on with dowels and wood glue.

he said it looked ugly but sure worked well

My two oldest kids started with the Remington 870 Express youth md 20 ga. When my two youngest got to age I started them with the Traditions AL 2100 youth md 12 ga. They were lighter than the 870 youth and kicked less. These are really nice shotguns for the kids. We never had a problem with jamming up or shot cycling. My kids shot 1000's of rds out of these guns shooting trap and sporting clays plus hunting. And I can honestly say there was not one jam up.

Relive your memories take a kid hunting and fishing

870 youth 20ga. Is hard to beat. My 60lb 7 yr old got his first turkey last weekend with it. Countless rounds from 7 1/2 to 4 buck have passed thru that lil bugger an it just keeps on going.

As other's have said, please don't light weight. Buy an auto 12 gauge before you buy a 20 pump. That light gun hits a young kid hard. As a shooting coach, the Mossberg is a fine choice as is the Beretta A300. I have 12 year olds shooting trap with both and they are pretty soft recoils

2019-2020 Goals
45/75 Beaver
0/100 Muskrats
9/1 Fox
0/4 Otter
0/2 Bobcat
11/1 Coyote
0/1 Marten
1/5 Mink
3/0 Raccoon

My son has a Winchester super x reduced length model. Comes with spacers etc so you can lengthen it as they grow. It's not camo but he's killed a ton of Turkeys with it. I believe they make a camo version. It's been a great gun he now has the 12 gauge adult length model super x4.

It is what it is.

Bought both my boys and wife an over under Stoger.
Can't beat them for the price. Never had any issues from any of them. I recommend them to everyone.
