Get one that has the good remote with the wheel you can turn with a glove on.

https://allpredatorcalls.com/foxpro...hed-electronic-game-call-with-100-calls/ - I'm pretty happy with this one and the price too.

I got the Prairie blaster, but you can get by with onr the smaller units. Give fox pro a call and ask them, they won't steer you wrong.

I'm my opinion, the remote Trump's the call.
I think people put way to much emphasis on volume. Way more important in the wide open western plains than areas with lots of roads and people.
Midwest / Eastern coyotes will be better off calling lower volume and making more stands.
Pay a bit more and get the better remote.
An extra 5 coyotes will pay for the difference wink

I have the Hellfire and the remote is JUNK. If its cold, forget it working. Foxpro customer service may be awesome, but i think some of the others have caught up. My buddy runs a Lucky Duck and that remote is awesome, no line if sight necessary. Quite an assortment of sounds too. Id look into the higher end Ecotecs too

Ecotec's customer service is garbage and it's a cheap call.

I have the patriot and it not quite load enough in the wind sometimes. The jackhammer or the inferno would be my picks. However could always start with the Patriot and a decoy then add speaker later if needed. Dont think you can go wrong anyway you go.

Crossfire is the one I have. It has the easiest remote to operate with a glove on.

It all depends on your hunting style jv220. Now you said it's for your 16 year old son, so weight shouldn't be an issue. I have a FoxPro Crossfire, it's light, it fits in my tactical bag, it holds plenty of sounds and has ok volume, my only complaint is the remote isn't the best, it's kinda hard to see, you have to look at it to change sounds unless you program a sequence. I think they have upgraded the remote since it bought mine. And the volume, it works fine for me in the desert washes but I think it's lacking for the wide open. Jv220 buy the best you can afford! I went a entire year without calling in anything while using a crappie caller, it was so bad I could hear the white noise and crackling when I used it. I went out and bought a FoxPro Crossfire and never looked back.

Now do you know how to hunt coyote? The best caller in the world isn't going to do any good if you don't know what your doing... yeah anyone can get lucky but to be consistent... do your homework.

Good Luck

I run the Patriot, the remote is nice compared to those with the microwave style buttons. Volume is plenty for the areas around here, but I could see that it might be lacking in the wide open prairie/ farm land some call on.
