The word “Croatan” is the indian name for mosquito and that is why it was carved on the tree by the last of the survivors of the Lost Colony.
Mulligan’s in Nags Head for lunch or dinner, if you are near Manteo go to Wanchese to O’neal’s Seafood in Wanchese Seafood Park, killer lunch served there. Hurricane Mo’s in Kitty Hawk has the best Crab bisque or clam chowder, Black Pelican has a great white seafood pizza cooked in a wood burning over with scollops and shrimp.
Starting to catch a few speckled trout here and there on the beach.
Don’t worry about the mosquitos, rattle snakes, bears or alligators too much, be scared to death of the ticks!

I want to thank you guys for the info, we had a great time the wife and I.. we dropped some coin but it was worth it.. loved it, went to cape hatteras,Wright brothers, bodies light house, jennette pier, nc aquarium, Elizabethan gardens, Rodanthe house and golfed 9... we ate at Austin’s fish market, hurricane moes, Sam and omies, tortugas lie, obx brewer, blue moon bar, O’Neil’s fish, makos... I’m probably forgotten some... seen a nags head otter on the way in. And seen this guy dead in the road in va. On the way home... lots of money down there... I wonder where it comes from and holy boats.. man there big beautiful..
