I got old, sold the herd, then sold the horses. Now when I help the neighbors with their cows I ride one of them there four wheel contraptions. blush

start them early and they are good help i saddled a horse for my 5 year old to help bring a pair to the barn tonight she was pretty tickled to get to help do cattle work horseback with dad The three of them can do the barn chores by themselves with very little help put calves in the pens with nurse cows feed bottle calves and sort the cows of the calves when there done and at ages 6 5 and 2 they do pretty good none of them have ever had video games they have their own animals and responsibilities and in the fall when they sell calves they get to buy something they have been wanting

i was about 6 or seven they put me in the doorway of barn to block.... we had a high headed old cow called ringeye ....she came charging at the door and i was in the rafters.... could move quick in them days... its all well and good to teach the kids but dont forget there animals and cant be trusted!!


The only place you find free cheese is in a mousetrap !

Lincoln is 5 now ....we have 7 other Grandkids. 4 boys, 4 girls.

I'll be taking a "Gate shot" with them all here for Easter

No horses, they eat too much...ha!
