Got accepted into an MFA low residency, graduate writing program, known as Stonecoast, at the University of Southern Maine. "Low-residency" means I only have to show up in person for about ten days, twice a year.

WHY? Most of my family wanted to know. To give me something more to do in retirement, maybe.

Anyone worried that I may have lost my liberal zeal recently should have no fear. At an East Coast liberal arts school, I'm sure to get my brain-washing renewed.

Flying to Maine twice a year and not going to Bates, Bowdoin or Colby? My wife graduated summa cum laude from the Maine system in Machias. She's as conservative as you are liberal.
