They work. But they also trigger when birds fly by, dogs run by, leaves blow by. SO you will get used to the false alarms and then ignore it when someone actually drives up. I think a camera system would be more effective.

The driveway alarms go off to much in my experience. There are only so many times a night, that it is tolerable, to be woken up, jump out of bed, quickly get half dressed and go out the door holding a gun to see leaves blowing, or a cat or rabbit.

A driveway gate and large, scary looking dogs work much, much better.

Get a good one and it will be triggered only by something made of metal and is reliable.

Mighty Mule for $65 works great for me.

How much quality can you realistically expect from harbor freight?

We've used the Dakota 2500 for the last several years and really like it. The buried sensor is next to our driveway about 250 yds from the house. No false alarms and no car ever comes up our driveway and surprises us. Very reliable but only detects vehicles.

Yea, had a cheap one. Drove me nuts too. Had to take it down. I'd like to get a bell like the old gas stations had.

I bought the Mighty Mule from Tractor Supply about 2 years ago. It works great and I have only had to replace the batteries in the sensor outside one time. It takes a vehicle to trigger it and have had no false alarms.

Providing wild fur to the industry at below the cost of production for over 50 years.

Mostly carbon neutral since 1948.

Same here and really like it, about the only false alarms are the occasional deer or during a thunderstorm. But I have a two part alarm as once the driveway alarm goes off, then the dog goes off. And if I forget to turn the first one off before mowing the lawn, I usually have to answer to the second one when I come back into the house!
