Must of been a anti making that grinner BS up to give them 1 purpose in life! LOL I raised a littler a few years ago they had ticks crawling all over them! Once they post that 5,000 tick meme I just post that they carry a disease that will kill a horse and they fade away.

Knowledge scares them away pretty quick as most of what they say are lies they feed to each other. They don't know wildlife management 101 so they get lost in the facts pretty easily.

Auto correct...came from an Entomologist there is a lot of differences in shedding and eating.
Interesting fact that in 1805-6 that a Manitoba explorer collected quite a few racoons in Manitoba on the Red River but the 'wildlife experts" of the 1950's said they came into Manitoba with Agriculture

I've caught a number of grinners in the dead of winter down here with plenty of snow around. Usually they are big, nice furred boars. They always get skinned out and besides, the produce a wicked skull that's usually worth as much as the fur. They still have naked feet such as cohunt said, but they must be able tolerate running around in the snow for at least a little while when they want to...

I grew up in Kansas in the 1940’s until 1960 at which time I joined the U.S Army. My dad was a carpenter, but in the winter he trapped. We lived in Iuka then moved to Macksville in about 1946, then to Pratt in about 1954 then we moved to Salina. Dad trapped mainly muskrats, mink, and raccoons. I remember that the raccoons were stretched into an almost perfect square.I don't remember how he did it, however it took a lot of nails. Besides trapping the raccoons, he often crawled under abandoned farm houses and shot raccoons with a .22. He would often get four to six raccoons under each house. There were often skunks under there too. These he shot, left them a few days then recovered them and let them air out a few more days. The skunks were sold to local fur buyers. There were two or three buyers in the local areas. I remember that one of the fur buyers was located in Kinsley.

There were very few deer, fox or bobcats in the areas that he trapped. In fact, I never saw any of these critters until after I had joined the army and was home on leave. Dad passed away in 1991.

a little off topic but there are rumors of armadillo moving into southeast Iowa

Kent Brad Miller. I've made mistakes in the past but have moved forward and learned from it.

There are all kinds of armadillos along interstate 70 east of Kansas City, so not far from Iowa for sure. I grew up in north central nebrask just south of the south Dakota border, 30 years ago there weren’t hardly any coon in that area. I remember hunting and trApping my tail off when I was 15-16 and ended up with around a 100 total, I remember the fur buyer commenting that was the most coon he had seen come from one person in that area.
