I can remember when ticks were rare here and a few were in the mountains east of here. Now its not safe to go out in the yard in the spring or fall there are so many. Anyway, When i get bit it itches for 3 months. Does this happen to anyone else? Is there any relief?

3 months, your lucky. I still have some welts from last summer just starting to quit itching. I dont know what helps, it sure curtails my outdoor activities. Amazingly, last year was much easier on me than the last 2-4.

Same here it gets a lump that needs to be dug out over time, it takes months to get that spot back to normal!

Was born in a Big City Will die in the Country OK with that!

Paul has created the Health forum, read some of the new CDC on tick diseases, it is a very fast changing world out there now.

You should treat your outdoor clothimg with Permethrin. Lasts for six washings.

Do a little searching here.

Pollen is worse. It keeps me irritated almost year round.

I'm itching two bites right now, they'll keep itching for months.
I've tried cortisone cream, antibiotic cream, alcohol, antihistamine gel, ignoring it, and breaking them open to treat with all the above again.
Nothing, nyet, nada works.....Last bites were from deer ticks the size of a grain of pepper, still itches like the big ones.

I started treating my clothing now, we'll see how that works.
Ticks are no joke, last year my friend got erlichiosis and ended up with a pacemaker.....

I don't mind the occasional tick bite. They take my mind off of how bad my back hurts.
Now chiggers, that's a whole different abomination of nature which causes me religious pause.

I pre-treat 9 (spray) clothing BEFORE going out. Preventing a bite is much better than wondering if you got bit by a lyme carrying tick.
