Elizabeth warren wants to cancel up to $50,000 in student loans for 42 million people , costing tax payers billions . She also , like pot head bernie , wants to give free college to all. She says this will boost the economy.

Seems all dumbocrats have no math or economic comprehension...........

It's called progressive thinking. The new era. Being accountable, managing money, are the old way of thinking. Having someone pay off your debt is the right way of doing things. What is sad is there is a following of this garbage.

What are there, nineteen or twenty people vying for the nomination in the Democrat party? She has to separate herself from the pack and she wants those kids votes. About as blatant as it gets.

Klobuchar seems good. More of an up the middle type candidate. Seems to see things both ways a bit imo.

There's no (logical) denying there needs to be some reform to the education system in this country, from elementary school through college. I don't have the exact numbers handy, but the cost of college tuition has risen at a ridiculous rate in the last 30 years. And our elementary through high school teachers are mostly underpaid and underappreciated. Low wages drive away good talent.

if the student loan program was completely done away with a bachelors degree wouldn't cost 50,000. probably cost about 16000. cant stay in business charging more than people can pay.

They want to control our children from pre-K through college for brain washing purposes. Too many of the kids are slipping through the cracks K through 12 now.

If she did cancel the whole amount of 50,000 for all. That is 2.1 trillion

A lot of money

If you graduated from college in the 50's, 60's, or early 70's you accomplished something. The phrase was "college man". You were a "college man" and it really counted for something. College was reserved for those who were hard workers and smart. Not everyone could go to college and the programs were rigorous.

Then the government decided that everyone "deserved" to go to college so they would guarantee student loans. With no risk to banks, banks started loaning money to anyone who wanted to go to college - qualified or not. Colleges wanted the revenue so they started whole new programs to admit more and more students. College was no longer reserved for smart hard workers so colleges needed to lower their standards to let more students in and get more of that government insured loan money.

College became the 13th grade. The rigorous programs were mostly gone. A college degree became "a piece of paper" instead of a real accomplishment.

My local high school has just partnered with the local community college. You can now get an associates degree while you're in high school. Does this require an extra year or two of high school? A longer school day? Evening classes? Summer sessions? Nope. You an accomplish this in the normal 6 hour high school day. 180 days of 6 hours per day for 4 years used to be what was required to earn a high school diploma. Now you can get a high school diploma and an associates degree in the same time for the same amount of work. College is no longer the 13th grade. It's now the 12th grade.

The goal was to raise the level of achievement that could be attained by everyone. Instead they managed to lower the level of achievement of everyone. Free college for everyone will just lower the bar even further. But, the masses will want it and it will get votes.

Bingo.

“A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves largesse from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most benefits from the public treasury with the result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy, always followed by a dictatorship. The average age of the world's greatest civilizations has been 200 years. These nations have progressed through this sequence: From bondage to spiritual faith; From spiritual faith to great courage; From courage to liberty; From liberty to abundance; From abundance to selfishness; From selfishness to apathy; From apathy to dependence; From dependence back into bondage.”
― Alexander Fraser Tytler

You can't be a Democrat and an American at the same time.

I call bs . Who persues a career where they are underpaid and under appreciated ? Going in they are ecstatic . Then through unions , whinning , and extortion they become part of the entitlement crowd.

Its called " free stuff " Sounds great till ya find out that government free stuff is 10 times as expensive as the most expensive equivalent on the free market. Problem is, once most people figure that out ... its to late

Why did the federal government take over the education of our children to start with? I have an idea. So they can educate the population the way they want them educated. I have said for a long time. GIVE EDUCATION BACK TO THE STATES. That's where it belongs. Hold schools and teachers responsible for actual learned skills. Like doing math on paper without a calculator. Telling time on a watch with hands, making change from our currency. You know walking around sense type stuff. Old school. the 3 R's. Get into college on your merits. The government has failed at every undertaking it is involved in. Post office, Amtrak even it's self. The only decent one I can find is the President and oh wouldn't you know it he's a business man not a politician.

A moderate Dem or Centrist Dem will look reasonably conservative next year with all the very liberal talking heads leading the campaigns right now.

That would be a great place to start, but it would only be a start.
