oh... forgot about that swan picture in that thick green muck - that swan literally got stuck in all that nuclear waste from those chemically treated lawns, it literally got stuck and could not get out. *I'm guessing the massive snapping turtles ate well !! I threw that picture in as well, just as an example of what I see out here..... Also - used motor oil is something that gets dumped on a regular basis as well - folks too lazy to bring it back to where they bought their new oil from. But the plastic, that stuff is forever - and like the one person said earlier - truly a crime against humanity.... not too mention all the other life forms. Oddly enough - only hunters and fishermen supported the work I was doing, Everyone else looked the other way.

I haul trash out of the woods every time I go in them. I'm not a chemist, but from the little I know not all plastics are bad to burn, some are almost pure hydrocarbon. PVC is the worst of all IMHO, and I use it daily. I recycle almost every metal item I can. People that dump trash should be executed. BTW, why are beer drinkers the laziest people in the woods? 9 out of 10 bottles and cans I pick up once held beer.

What burns me up is driving at night and seeing the car in front of you throw the cigarette butt out!

Used oil is valuable in the winter time in Virginia. People use it in waste oil furnaces to heat their shops.

Roadside dumping laws pretty much have no teeth... I picked thru 4 PU loads of household trash that were dumped on our hunting lease, and came up with over 30 pieces of evidence related to one family.... bills, doctor's appt.'s, school papers, bank statement's, etc. I called DNR and they sent someone out to meet me, file a report, plus take pictures. Before he left he told me that would be the end of it as DNR wouldn't even follow up past that point due to the legal system just throwing it out because of lack of 100% proof... no one saw them do it... figures... trash dumping trash.

We burn the papers and cardboard, send the rest with the garbage truck, generally. The world will drown in plastic, no doubt. I don't understand people who just dump their garbage anywhere, ticks me off.
Right now I’m having amnesia and déjà vu at the same time. I think I’ve forgotten this before.

Yup, I realize that much of what I hauled out of the waterways here was/is recyclable, would be even better if I did not have to do what I was doing 40 - 50x a year, eventually I just gave up.... as folks out here really go out of their way to litter/pollute/etc.... I had a deal with the city where I would bag everything I hauled out of the river, and they would take it away, which worked for me for 8 solid years. As fr as the waste oil, I've come to believe that the people in CT have it too good hence, they have no sense of value when it comes to recycling because, well... that's too much like work. You guys ever hear of a place called Raybestos ?? Superfund site which now has a Shoprite, a Walmart, and Home Depot on it - Stratford CT.... There's a creek called the Ferry Blvd Creek, where I came across these deceased geese. Now, last time I checked Canadian Geese are pretty hardy... and to see 4 of them like this is troubling. So, I put the word out that I wanted to fully fund cause and manner resting, along with toxicology testing to determine exactly what happened here. NOBODY wanted to get involved. Why ?? Because that would point to the supposed remedy of that same superfund site not exactly working out. I want to say that the city incinerated everything I hauled out of our waterways, of which most of it was indeed plastic - bags, fishing line, but there was all kinds of other bad stuff too like used hydraulic oil [right at the high tide line...] and stuff which I am surprised did not give me some life threatening disease. I walked away from all this, because I started to believe that all the clean up work I was doing was starting to encourage folks to dump even more. Now my volunteer work focuses on wildlife management and conservation, and how this is directly impacted by pollution and over development. The bottom picture [if I did this right] is of a beaver house that was located in a very toxic canal one town over. This was the impulse for me to start trapping, but sadly they perished/vanished without a trace before I could ever set a trap [once I got licensed...]

Every town here has its own landfill, and they recycle everthing they can, and basically dump the organics and cover. Most guys that have camps in the bush still use the old burn barrel.
Rumor here is that govt is doing away with those local landfills? Putting in incinerators? Just curious if you had seen them. I'd pay you to scout them out for me. Guy said he just shipped 40 units up there. Each going to a town.
