They caught a Amish guy in ohio last year and the fine was like 28k. I don't think the fines are that steep in Michigan.

Some people just can't help them selves when fish are biting. Warden stopped to check my friend Bee and a couple his buddies license the other day. They were fishing walleye from the bank and of course were all legal doing it right.. Warden stood BSing with them for a while and showed them the cooler in his truck full of bags walleye fillets. He had just confiscated them 20 minutes earlier at boat landing up river from them. The guy he tagged he glassed from shore caught like 3-4 limits of fish. Clean and bag them in boat. Then came to shore where he grabbed him at the landing wrote him up.

Happens here during walleye run every spring. Not that I don't catch my share fish my self. But I don't double and triple trip the bag limit ..Some folks come here from out of town want to take a years worth a limits because their only here that one day and fish are really turned on..Game hogs got them every where..

Seems to happen a lot around here as well. More so from non residents as they want to get their money's worth for their out of state licence.

Detroit river walleye are actually quite safe to eat. The run is on heavy now and it would not be difficult for an experienced angler to boat 80 fish in a days fishing.

Just happy to be here.

This worked for me to see article.

Click on link provided by bleeohio and when you get to 404 error, page not found just put "walleye" in the search and it will take you to article.

Hope I explained that correctly.

A lake near my place is famous for early season crappies. There was a motorhome from Iowa parked at the landing for several days. Someone reported 2 fisherman making trip after trip from the landing out onto the lake. When a CO checked on them, they had over 1,000 crappies filets in several coolers and were just getting ready to head back home.

I can't imagine anyone could eat that many fish.

A church fish fry or a trappers convention fish fry can eat up lots of fish. We fry up around 75 lbs of catfish fillets at our state convention and we are only feeding a couple hundred folks and have lots of other goodies like fresh cooked whole hog BBQ and there is never any fish leftover.

Not saying folks should disregard limits that are in place to protect the resource but am not going to assume that just because someone has a lot that they are going to be wasted. And I have no idea what the regulations on crappie are in MN either.

Limit on crappies in MN is 10 as far as I know. I don't care for crappies to eat, just have fun catching them. I don't keep any, much prefer sunfish to eat. I keep those.
