Anybody ever use a 90 degree angle slipped on pipe sets to keep water out? I don't see it hindering the smell getting out ?

I drill 4 holes about 2 to 3 inches down to let rain drain out and theoritically the holes dispense scent with air movement. I would think an elbow could impede scent dispersal, particularly if the wind is blowing straight into the elbow.

I think you would have a hard time blending it and its not needed ,I just picked up some pipes the other day and most were chewed and some were moved from the area. 3 months of weather and still going strong, pipe dope and lucky were my lure / bait. I would like to here others variations of the pipe. I have pulled pipes from one spot and moved to New set, also cover pipe in debris after a catch. Curious if anyone has tried fruity jam or burnt honey in a pipe for skunks.

I think it's a very good idea. I would not use the glue.

Don’t believe the 90’s would have any real benefits. Have to remember why MZ started using the pipe set in the first place, crappy wet weather conditions. To me the 90’s would be an un-needed expense. Mine have set through all types of weather, mostly rain and I still have to sling the old bait out at the end of the season.

If you think it’s something worth trying then try it and see if it works.

You can use a 90 if you want in very soft soil where you can push in down by hand, like a muddy creek bank, but you know what will happen if you have to hit i the 90 with a hammer.
Just to confuse you a little more, you can use a 8'" piece of pvc with a 45 cut on bottom a "T" on top and use a piece of rebar grabbing each side to push it down, or twist it side to side to drill itself down.
but would not do either unless I needed to kill a lot of time

I use them as is. Even though you have it tucked in some cover I think the angle of the pipe helps get them lined up over the trap as they work it. This year on some of my sets I took a bit of poly fill and put down the pipe to where it would suspend the bait about 1.5 -2 inches below the top end just to keep the bait just out of reach and not sitting in water. Going to keep notes next year to see if it makes any difference

For only a couple, I'd say "why not"? But with me doing 100's of them, probably not gonna work. I like the idea of keep rain out but it would be harder to get the bait down where I want it in the pipe with the 90 vs. just an open straight pipe. But before that even, I can't drive the pipe in with my hammer with a 90 on top.

As mentioned, I guess you could drive straight pipe in and then twist 90 on and hope its a tight fit, and doesn't come off easily......

In the end, I like new ideas and innovations to my original approach.....never get in a rut, try new things. Let us know how it works!

Many years ago before zagger wrote about his system (many thanks Mark )there was a trapper that posted about using pipe with 90s and Ts with dirt beaded traps and talked about how well they resisted rain and catching coyotes in standing water

Fill It to the top with bait and you won't have to worry about rain. Actually when you drive In the pipe the dirt that accumulates In the pipe will push your bait to the top.

Improving all the time. The tees are a great idea.

In mark stecks roadlinimg video, he puts the 90 on to satisfy South dakotas exposed bait law. I guess it would depend if you were using some sort of meat or fish based bait. Fish stick set is no good here.
