I picked up a quart of black trap kote. I'm planning on using it for conibears, footholds, and the chains fastened. Does anyone know how many traps can be done with a quart of it? Thanks

No way to say for sure. Too much depends upon how thin you mix it and what traps. A quart will do a bunch though. If you don't have enough to submerge your traps just brush it over them. It will not leave a heavy opaque coating but rather a thin tough coat. Multiple dips is a good idea for the first time dipping them. Usually 3 coats on traps, one coat on snares. Just let it dry a hour in-between dipping them. Catch your drips and you'll have a lot more to do more traps as well.

Thanks for the feedback. I will probably need another quart to finish all the traps since most of them are new and have never been done. Do you recommend using a brown dip for conibears or black? I have been told brown is the way to go on water traps and black on land?

If you can't decide which color to use, mix the two together. I've done that with Speed Dip. It turned out a real dark brown. Worked fine. But, personally I prefer black and I'm almost entirely a water trapper.

I don't care how nice the hand soap smells, you should never walk out of the restroom sniffing your fingers.

ADC has it right

When asked I say 1 qt will do, 100 1.5 coil spring traps. Dipped 3 times

Okay, that is a good reference, thank you!

I mix one quart of brown and one quart tan, the result matches my Creek beds perfectly.

Any of you guys store the mix to reuse at a later time? Or can you even do that?

My bucket is 12 years old, I just store it in the basement so it doesn't freeze and I use distilled water so no mold gets to growing in it. When I get low, I just add a quart of F1 and more water. The lid needs to seal really well.

Newt is the expert on F1 do what he says.
