Yep..Seems like every day there is a tainted food..I see lots of recalls for all kinds of food products from lettuce to poultry to beef you name it there could be a good chance of a virus or bacteria in the USA food chain..I have never seen so many recalls..careful what you eat..might be your last..
I can catch them here...I can catch them ANYWHERE

As far as meat IDK but when it comes to produce I blame the workers. Salmonella comes from feces and IMO I believe the workers in many cases provided that introduction to the produce. Same when I here there's traces of plastic in meat? How easy would it be for a disgruntle employee to throw something into a grinder or terrorist to spread a disease into our food? They may only kill a hundred people but still. Better to grow your own and buy local!

Seen a bit on 60 minutes where they introduced a antibiotic to a bacteria and in less then 24 hours it had developed a resistance to it in that short of time.

Salmonella can be spread by a house fly landing on a product, and every hour after the bacteria of salmonella can double in count. Colder temperatures can help control the growth a lot. Microbiology is a very scary subject to study. After going to microbiology school I find myself over cleaning surfaces & equipment any time I'm working up deer meat or any other game.

It's a known fact that every person who has ever consumed food, has died. I've heard of this before...

The sad thing about all of that tainted meat is that you can't come out here and buy meat fresh from the farm the way law reads here in Missouri I can sell you a pig or a chicken or goat and I can provide you a place to butcher it but I cannot help you butcher it That law is in place for the exact thing this discussion is about. To prevent food born illnesses because people too stupid to handle meat properly would be selling to people too stupid to know better.

Read the book Everything I Want To Do is illegal by Joel Salatin . It talks about dumb food laws that do not have the consumer's best interest in mind.

It's very possible that these food-borne illnesses are from the same reasons that we can't put honest people in D.C. or we can't seem to get election ballots counted properly. Yet twice a week, millions upon millions of lottery tickets are sold, and within minutes, they know exactly where the winning ticket was sold.
Life ain't supposed to be easy.

Another book to read is Kitchen Literacy by Ann Vileisis. I would say a lot of the food laws are about protecting corporation's bottom line.
