I think Mac hit the nail on the head.

It's marketing/lobbying from clothing manufacturers.

This is one guy that you'll not see wearing pink. I can only imagine sitting in the deer woods feeling like a modern day Davy Crockett and then realize I was wearing pink. Talk about a manhood killer

The people who think this stuff up call themselves progressive, but it is actually insulting to suggest that you can attract more females to participate in an activity by luring them in with pink clothing.

I'm guessing the move is to appease the women (fine with me) and/or the manufactures making it.

As for the flow green. I tested many different flo colors of duct tape years ago when I wanted the highest visibility color for my rat stakes. The flo pink could be seen the furthest....noticeably further than the flo green.

It takes a real man to wear pink!

Seriously, some of you guys are missing the point. The goal is to prevent someone from getting shot. I use pink surveyor tape for marking sets, it does stand out very well.

It must have been a very slow news day when the original story was written, but yet these laws need to be on the books, and in the regulations. I doubt if anyone would question a person's manhood, because of his safety gear, if they do that's their problem. Your buddies might poke fun, now and then? The heck with them. That hot pink will stand out good in trophy pictures!

Well if you just want to be seen in the woods not mistaken for anything else use Florescent Blue...Some years back it was suggested by someone on this forum I try blue surveyor ribbon. Reason being there is pretty much nothing else in the woods that is blue. From a hunting trap thief point of view though people do seem to ignore or look past the blue. I had a lot of trail sets along corn fields and road ditches marked with orange or pink ribbon. Would catch myself driving right by some as ribbon blended in with fall leaves and different sun, light patterns. especially where there were blackberry bushes.. Also notice that other people tend to check out the pink and orange ribbons.. Once I switched to the blue I seldom drove past a ribbon unless it got totally blocked form view some how. Also didn't see where others had pulled off to look at blue ribbons on road sides.
So florescent Blue maybe a color that should be add. When you are only lookinng for blue it's like looking for morels. Once your eyes are right it pops right out at you in woods..
No idea how deer would see Blue?

Hot / fluorescent pink stands out better then most any other colors, all my eel/ crab pots have a bright pink section on the bouys now, used to use orange , but everyone uses orange. but then I'm secure with my masculinity....
Fluorescent green is the absolute worst color on the water.

I believe colors and how they work is all about back ground and contrast.. Why the pink works good for you on water..and of course there is nothing else out there that color to look for.
I thought the coast guard discouraged or even out lawed orange as a buoy color?? Being that it is color used for most life vets, life rafts and survival suits.. Think here in WI any buoys on traps/pots,etc of any kind can't be orange??? Maybe I'm wrong??

Never heard of that "here" A lot of guys use f. orange or red orange, as it does show pretty good, but they both fade fast in the salt and sun. The pink paint I use is Behr with the primer, doesn't fade, and lasts several years under the worst conditions. Some colors just disappear on the water and light conditions can hide even the bright colors sometimes.

Many bright colors look white in dusky low light conditions. That would not be good.
