. . . then again if I don't have it I usually want it. Sounds like an excellent reason to get one. I also have a 6" 29. Dirty Harry and all that. The 10mm is no joke with serious loads but if I end up in grizzly country I'd rather have something that hurts my hand more. Really though there are some 10mm loads out there that'll pretty much go all the way through a black bear from any angle.

Plus the Glock can soak up some of the recoil on the reload.

If you are in bear country and need to apply the .44 your not going to need as many rounds as you think. You will be shooting point blank, recoil you will not feel. Keeping it accessible is key. Make sure the grips feel right. My personal favorite is my 629 4" mountain gun. 44 magnum.

I have the 329, it' s great for packing but pretty stout for shooting. If I'm just plinking I shoot 44 specials in it. If I'm hunting with one of my single shot pistols I sometimes carry the 329 for close up shots. I have taken a couple of doe deer with it.
We've got quite a few grizzlies around here. Every year some one gets wacked by grizzly. So when I'm out I load it up with full power 44 mag loads and with 265 gr cast bullets.

I just traded a Sig for one that should be showing up today, I’ll let you know how it goes. I already have a Smith X frame in .460, so I’m used to punishment lol

I already have a Smith X frame in .460, so I’m used to punishment lol My main hunting pistol is a Freedom Arms 454. For me the 454 is more comfortable to shoot than my S&W 329 with full power loads. A friend of mine shot some Buffalo Bore 330 gr bullets (IIRC) in his 329. He wanted me to shoot it. I fire 4 rounds and was getting ready to fire the 5th when I decided I'd had enough and handed his pistol back and said I'm done!

Got mine today. It’s a quality piece, locks up tight and a crisp light trigger. 44 specials and a pleasure to shoot, smooth and little recoil. Shot a few middle of the road 240g mags and they definitely bark; but not at all unbearable. I didn’t buy this gun for a handgun hunter, I have others that fit that bill. For me, this is strictly a carry gun when I’m hunting and backpacking in grizzly country. I’m going to swap out the factory sights for some tritium night sights, and install a X frame hogue grip.
Taxi is right about the jump crimp, and folks who carry it should understand what it is, it’s causes, and choose a proven bullet they have absolute confidence in.
