I finally almost (almost lol) know what upper I want but I have a couple questions.
1. I am torn between a 20" bull barrel and a Hbar barrel. I am wanting a tack driver so, would I lose much accuracy going with the Hbar barrel. They are both SS, only difference is the outside diameter.
2. The bull barrel isn't threaded so no muzzle brake. I know muzzle brakes in the larger calibers help with recoil, but do they make a difference on a .223 wylde?
I wonder if tap dancers walk into a room, look at the floor, and think, I'd tap that. I wonder about things.....

I'm not sure you will gain anything with the bull barrel except weight. If the smaller barrel is threaded I would go that route. I don't thing a muzzle brake would be needed but it would be nice to have the option to suppress. There again it isn't very expensive to have a barrel threaded either. You will be fine either way go with what you want.

I bought a 20" bull barrel from DPMS long time ago and it was stupid heavy, I had it fluted to get rid of some weight and it was still to heavy. If you buy a good barrel it doesn't have to be heavy to be a tack driver and there is not enough recoil on a .223/5.56 to justify all the extra noise coming back at you from a muzzle break. JMHO If it's stainless, break it in right and it will shoot well.

I bull barrel is not inherently more or less accurate then a barrel of a lesser outer diameter. The difference is in how many shots you can put into the same spot before the heat starts having an effect. The bull barrel having more material can " buffer" the heat from the round better then a hole with less tube around it. So it depends on what you want to do. If your goal is to set up a shooting bench near a dog town and bring a trunk full of home rolled ammo. The bull barrel wins hands down. If you are going to set up a caller to lure in a song dog or two and have to walk a ways to the chosen spot. Go lighter. Horses for courses and all that.

I would go with purdy, lighter! JMHO That is purdy. I think I'm gonna camo mine. It won't look as good as scuba's does, man he does a good job on them.

I do not own a white oak barrel, but have seen enough online about them I would give them a shot for sure.

Also buying a barrel that is already threaded will save you 100-120 bucks in the future should you want to get a suppressor or add a brake. Suppressor hands down is the best upgrade you could get though IMO.

I built a stupid heavy 20 inch bull barrel sure it shot well but everything since has been light weight
I found no muzzle device makes for more dust kick up when shooting prone
the standard bird cage flash suppressor reduces dust kick up but no effect to recoil.
the muzzle brake I am using on the 308 doesn't seem to kick up dust below but can from the sides some but it isn't as bad
the flash suppressor basic bird cage or brake also protects your muzzle crown.
America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

Well I can't get the guy to call me back on the one upper I want, kinda frustrating lol. Can I buy a complete upper without barrel, cause that green mountain one looks good to me.
