I think the hides for habitat program has spread ticks throughout our state.

The program raises about $150,000.00 a year to help fund statewide habitat projects.

I am sure that when I was working in the grass all spring and half the summer, I helped spread ticks west. I could get in the pickup and have them crawling on everything.

I think a high concentrated DEET does help. I fish a couple of small trout streams. I spray my boots, pants, shirt, and even my hat with DEET. I seldom get ticks. But, permethrin is even better. Just don't put it on your skin.

Wife got one a few years ago just below her waist. It completely embedded. Emergency doc took it out.
