That being said many other makers did very well, Older Winchester XTR's, Rmington BDL's, 721's, 722's, the newer Savages, Rugers, Sako etc. I've got a Husquvarna Imperial 7mag that's never been fired but boy I love looking at it. jbyrd63 trapper J Joined: Feb 2014 Posts: 13,155 Ky	I have both. The 6 mm will out shoot the 243. As for ammo when you find it buy some extra (what ever the load) and don't worry about it. Really stop and think how many rounds will she need each year. I here and see people say "I got 15,000 rounds of a certain caliber stored up because there is a shortage". DUH ever wonder what causes the shortage. Not many manufactuers sell the 6mm now.

Ammo availability is a real thing Actually, my mind was made up to get her the 6mm because that would be my own personal choice. But, I heard too many on here say ammo availability is an issue. So, I decided on the 243 for that reason and my granddaughter's birthday is 5/8, a week away. The dealer said she could have a 243 Savage Axis 11 in two days. It would take at least a week to get something in a 6mm. The difference between animals and humans is that animals would never let the dumbest ones lead the pack.
