This is way I get the money I asked for when doing ADC beaver trapping or someone else can do it. I don't work cheaply

And yes a .22 with rat shot works great. I have enough on hand to last for years. This time of year, I'm always packing. Pistol goes in my pocket before ever leaving the truck. Sarge

Getting old is a fatal mistake

Always looking for reloading componets

I know a beaver or two, because I've seen a beaver or two

Do you keep the beaver hides and if so what months do you start and finish skinning them out? We have more copperheads here, had to kill one that bit my dog.. I spend a lot of time fishing but see very few moccasins. Did have a big rattler in the yard once, that was first one I ever saw in the wild.

I haven't skinned a beaver in many years. I feed them to the bobcats and bears. Phil this site isn't far from you. I'd guess it's about 10 miles or less north of Washington. Have you heard of the J&W? It's in there with about ten other sites I'm working.

Yup I know where it is. It's huge. What do beaver eat in those big pine farms?

The one cottonmouth that bite me was one I did not see it was in weeds along the shore of a lake. That was back in the state of MA in the mid 70's ,Over here I see copperheads. They go there way and so far let me alone. Had one swim out in front of me in a river I was walking up when fishing.

Cottonmouths have seemed to replace all our rattlesnakes. Most all snakes get a pass on certain properties I frequent except cottonmouths...they all die! Haven’t seen a copperhead in years now, doesn’t mean I haven’t walked over or near them, just haven’t seen them.

There are sweet gum, maple and merkle bushes along the canals and ditches. They'll eat on some pines too.

I reached my hand down into my flower bed to grab the end of the hose the other day, and had the head of the bigger one about 6" from my hand before I saw it. Still don't know how I didn't get bit.

Being that I live /trap creek bottoms. I see snakes pretty regularly, I normally have a couple of snake shots loaded in my .22 revolver along with hollow points. So that way I can roll the cylinder around shoot the snake and walk on.

You forgot the alligator snapping turtles. Anything that can live for two days with a 330 around it's neck underwater and crawl off when you release it is a bad dude.

Releasing a snapping turtle from a 330 is not a fun thing. Can't imagine doing it with an alligator snapper.

I would be screaming like a girl if I trapped down south. The way I tramp around the woods I would have to stop at the 1st bass Pro down south for snake boots.
