It’s been rough around here most days nothing is gobbling only worked two birds so far this season. The one hung up at 60 yards the other one walked the other way. Getting frustrated for sure but I’m still plugging away. Hunted every day except 2. Being retired is fun!
I don’t trap because I want to I trap because I have to

Thanks PCR and Snyde. Snyde, I also have a second tag. I’ll be out after them again tomorrow. I have two days of camp time left before I got to go home and back to the real world. I’ve been buying the second tag ever since they created it but I can’t remember when that was. Does anybody remember when the PGC first issued the special spring gobbler tag?
Eh...wot?

Thanks for all the congrats guys. Hunting spring gobbler’s is about my favorite thing to do.
I stayed in camp until the heavy rain ended about 830 this morning then headed to an area where there are some crop fields, figured the turkeys didn’t want to be in the drippy woods anymore than I did. Sure enough two big gobblers and a hen. As I was circling above them the woods thinned out enough for the hen to spy me (Putt Putt). I backed off and called a little bit but the gig was up.
Later I moved to the far end of the fields and had three hens feed past in front of me about 30 yards out. I thought, “perfect, live decoys” and kept waiting for the gobbler that should’ve been following them to show up. He never did.
Tomorrow is another day.
Eh...wot?

well played Mr.Longbeard, well played.tomorrow is another day though. The best hunts are with the smart birds that take multiple hunts on multiple days to kill, if you ever do.

great job lugnut……………….almost regret filling my second tag with still so much time left in the season...……... It’s interesting that you also have a second tag available to you in Canada. Can you harvest two turkeys with your regular license or do you have to buy a special second tag? I’ve been buying the special second tag since it was first created. I don’t fill it all that often but, to me, it is well worth the price because it keeps me hunting on the many occasions that I’ve killed turkeys during the first couple of days of the season. Without that second tag I’d be done for the year.
Eh...wot?
