I was looking at the number of bobcats being offered on June 10. The majority of the previous sales offer between 4,000 and 8,000 cats. This sale they are offering 27,000 cats! Holy crap! I really hate to say it but it sounds to me like they are flooding the market and the prices are starting to circle the drain. If anyone has any different takes on this I'd love to hear about it. I sure hope thats a typo.

I would assume a lot of cats collected previously wind up in Helsinki at the FHA sale. This sale has brought the top prices for the better cats for a few years now.
27,000 sounds like too high a number though.

After last years boomer sale a lot of cat harvesters jumped on the wagon, I would venture a guess that a substantial number of 27,000 is carried over centrals, and western c-d cats that were bought to get the a-b cats for the customers.

It is possible that several large dealers have their seasons collection of cats on that sale. I don't know that for sure, but it is a possibility. 27,000 is a LOT of cats.

So can we assume that the lynx sales will tank as all the buyers will spend there money on bobs? Good thing the NWT has an $80.00 minimum payment for lynx. Only got 15 this winter and a lot were 85-95 cm pelts so I was not expecting a wind fall anyhow.

Cat numbers were way down as harvest goes in my neck of the woods (about half). So it was a shocker to see 3x to 5x the number of cats show up in comparison to previous sales. I know I'm looking at a small sample size but thats all I have to go by.

Is that normal to have a sale in two different locations? Why would they wait till after the nafa sale to sell sable and cats? Wouldn't that be an obvious disadvantage?

2100 seals?? What specie(s) are these? And what is the end product made from their fur? Are they bought by foreign countries, or do they stay in North America?

I believe they are ring seals.I think most go to Scandinavia for clothing.Seal skin clothing is very beautiful. Also extremely durable and warm. There is a sealskin tannery in NF and a lot stay in Canada on the east coast for clothing also. And of course in Arctic Canada as well.
Some of the Arctic fur at FHA comes from Greenland as well as Arctic Canada.

I would love a quality made pair of seal skin mittens. Problem is, I don’t want to take a second mortgage to pay for them.

The right number for cats is 12,000.
Marten is 27,000.It is corrected on the buyers download page at the bottom in red.

Brian, I don't think seal skin products can be imported to the USA
