Hi everyone. Just started collecting a couple years ago. Have learned a lot on these forums, lots of knowledge here. So my question is...on ebay there are three herters 1.5 coil spring traps that appear to be cleaned down to bare metal. They are bid up to $199.00. Isn't this a crazy price and way off base? Or am I missing something?

that does seem high, coils are more modern and not as much collectable value. I cannot find any where that shows those traps being worth that. Somebody will chime in if they know more.

I believe the seller is going to be VERY HAPPY at the end of this auction. I don't see anything rare or unusual about the 3 traps, they have been overly cleaned as stated above. I'm not a Herter's collector, so they look like trapping traps to me. If there are any Herter's collectors on here, here is the link to the eBay listing, I believe a lot of other collectors would like to know what makes these three traps so high priced.

Looks like I sold my 1 1/2 Herters coils too cheap. I got 6.00 each for mine, but then again they had ordinary trap rust! LOL

If you look at the bid history, there are only 2 bidders, though the bid total is 26. They both seem desperate to buy those 3 traps.

The same seller has other traps for sale that are going for reasonable prices. One of his auctions, the Prott trap, is even below value.

Sure would like to know what the two bidders see in those traps. Maybe the name........

They are crazy I felt, if not somebody has fat figure their bid in and don't realize it. All I could find is $10 if they were in mint shape.

From what I've seen on ebay lately I think some people just can't stand to lose an auction and the price doesn't really matter. I've got a string of old Herter's users, maybe I need to dig them out...
