It's every thing else that should have stayed on the carcass. Technically, when done clean skinning, you should be able to nail it to your board and clean it up with a few knife strokes. I nail mine out and a few passes with a sharp axe head and I'm done.

It will be worth it, I'm sure Les has a couple of practice beavers for you to whittle on. Otherwise roll it up and freeze it, and you have enough scrapings for 4 marten boxes in the fall off that hide , when you process in the fall. There are too many larder beetles flying now not to have beetle damage on a prepared pelt.
