Shouldnt take many coyotes to pay for a dozen, Kinda how I look at it. Plus, with proper care they will out last myself and still be worth what I paid, if not more.

If you built a trap that cost 50$ each. Some trapper would buy it just to say he owned them.

If I was chasing 500$ coyotes maybe so but when they bring 30$, I think mb’s are as rich as I want to go.

mj 600s are over inside spread for ny, stock

That sucks. They will now have to me sent off to my Uncles shop for inside lames. Going to look funky on cast jaws. What does the inside spread measure? I was first under the impression these are 5 1/2. Any pictures with ruler/measure?

Tonawanda, the inside spread is 5 3/4, outside 6 1/2. The MJ 500s have an inside spread of roughly 5 3/8 (I measured an older trap and assume the new ones are close), they are cheaper to. With the demand on the 600s a fella could probably dump the 600s and buy 500s with a little money left over. That is if the 600s don't meet your states regs, as I do not know what your state's rules are. Hope this info is of help to you, good luck and tight chains.

Here’s a post from a well known ny trapper from another forum. I had a chance to buy some and still do just have not got around to... they are new old stock.. I wanted to know what was a good price to offer the lady. This was the reply I got. Did they shrink? In new production

Jaw hinge to hinge inside is 5 1/2.

The pic above is of a trap made last year. The pic below is of one of the first MJ 600s Glen ever made. It measures extremely close to the new one. Jr uses the same jaw shaping jig that Glen Sr did, although it does have a few shims in it as it has worn some over the years.

160, I made a similar purchase a year ago. Good traps are a great investment IMO and I plan to invest more as funds become available.
