If you were born between 1943 and 1954 your full retirement age is 66

If You Are a Widow/Widower. If you are a widow or widower, you can receive Social Security retirement benefits as early as age 60. If you have not reached your full retirement age, and you are still working and earn more than the earnings limit, your benefits will be reduced.

the earliest a person can start receiving Social Security retirement benefits will remain age 62. If you start receiving retirement benefits at: age 62, you will get 75 percent of the monthly benefit because you will be getting benefits for an additional 48 months.

The problem with early retirement , is health insurance. I have not had health insurance in over 3 years, ever since where work for 30 years. Closed up, could not afford, anywhere from here on out, I'd when could reslly use it, I don't get what the idea was to be fined $1300 on taxes for no health ins, for 2 years. What was the big idea? To hurt ppl like me.? When did go to docter. It was worthless sliding fee scale place. Poor quality doctors, low place, to get appointment, I had drive there, in person, they wouldn't answear of return voice mail , I got a whole woppjn 10 per cent off normal price, there normal pricrs were higher than lot other places. Especally higher than small town dentists, I have severe arthritis in 1 knee. No. I can't get soacil security. They only give that to heroin addicts who od an have brain damage an survive of ppl mental problems , from drinking an drugs, sounds fair right

At 20 I quit the laborers union, took a 50 percent pay cut to go to work for county government. Four months later I took a 25 percent pay cut to go to work for a land surveyor. The laborers had broken down bodies. The county workers only thought about retirement and I haven't worked a day since then. Since turning 60 I've only worked six months a year and l see no reason to change that while I still enjoy good health which I credit somewhat to making the chioce to find a job I enjoyed not one I felt locked into.

Plenty of time to do the things I enjoy.

Ya if u can get good job u ok, in Union, u can retire at 59 1/2? Pension, right? At my temp job, 2 years ago, I believe a guy a year older than me did, the policy lately at 1 of my 2 jobs. Is if any mistakes almost at all or to slow. They send u home for day, hasn't hapoen me yet but easily could, that stuff, really wants u to go on job search, have bum knee an pt nite job job that like keep, can limit u in what u do, a lady at local workforce center. Told me not to apply at any jobs that might not be able do , not because bum knee but kinda work, definately a good idea. Try doing something that impossible for u to do, not good

I retired at 55, I have so much going on that I am as busy as when working. However, now I do what I want and more importantly I don’t do what I don’t want to do.

I started a business to make retirement more affordable and because I wanted to.

I plan to live until I die.

Don’t put off anything. Don’t delay anything. Do it while you can.

I would leave my job and never look back.

I would start a new career doing what I liked.

I don't have insurance. I am in Samaritan Ministries. It is $200.00 a month. Works better than insurance.

Just passin through

Time in general is precious, especially our time after retirement. I retired at 52 ten years ago after 22 years of fire service in downtown Little Rock. Living on a pension can be tricky but the wife and I have some flea booths to keep us busy. I got back to trapping as our 24 hrs on and 48 hrs off made it too hard to meet state laws. Didn't know how much I had missed it! So, at 62 I look forward to the next season like a kid as it could be my last. We lost our son to suicide 2 years ago this month. Pain from a bad back surgery was too much I guess but he never missed a day on the trapline. Actually he was my stepson, but mine anyway. Taught him how to trap and got to see him catch his first coyote.

I guess I'm saying make every day count and be happy. If you can smile at what you do, that's a win. I store daily memories now like a packrat. All of us are rich to be able to spend time on the line, even if it"s just a few seconds in a #2 coil!

Rob G -

Post #1 you nailed it! We only go around once. We're alive a very short time. We're dead for a really long time. While we're here, we should make the most of it. Dealing with, and taking care of, the natural world, including trapping, should be foremost on our "to-do" list. Thank you for the post.

Jack
